Lauren ~~ May Embellishment Kit ~~ 12x12 - From Where I Stand

Hey Everyone,

I am back with a mixed media grungy layout using the May Fundraising Kit.

Scrapping Fun Kits is fundraising for Starlight Children’s Foundation this month. All profits from sales of the May Embellishment Kit and kit extras will be donated to Starlight Children’s Foundation. If you would like to donate directly to Starlight Children’s Foundation you can do so via their website https://starlight.org.au/donation-form

I started by watering down some blue and purple acrylic paint and used the packaging technique to adhere to the page, randomly but mostly in middle in a vertical line.

I bordered my photo with zebra tissue paper (matting the whole photo), ripping the tissue paper on the bottom edge. I then used leftover pieces of the collage paper, making it banner on either side.

I added this to the middle of the page, in line with mixed media packaging background.

I then decided I wanted to have this mixed media piece backed onto another white cardstock. So I ripped both edges so that it would sit up on the border piece as a bit of interest. I also added another ripped layer of white cardstock, so that there was three layers of white cardstock to the layout.

As I was putting the mixed media piece of cardstock onto the plain white 12x12 piece I realised that the scrap strips of the zebra stripe tissue paper would add great interest if added to both sides. So I did just that !

I then got to embellishing, I added a part of beautiful ribbon, to bottom left of the photo. Adding the amazing Charms Creations felt zebra heart to start to combine the photo and the cluster as one.

I new these wood veneer words needed to nestle around the felt heart. I cut some butteflies and made then sit 3D around the photo, like they are flying - this helps to draw eye across the layout.

I added small amount of journalling to bottom cluster, and the title to sit across the top of the photo.

Looking at the layout as a whole I knew it was missing a doodley border - so I used a thick sharpie and drew few lines to left and right vertical edges.

Ta Da!

Lisa - May Awareness Moodboard - Birthday Card

Hello everyone. Welcome to my take on the Scrapping Fun May Awareness Moodboard Challenge.

I took from this Moodboard the "Zebra" theme and the Blue & Purple colours and decided to do a Birthday Card for my grandson who is turned 4 last week. I also used the bonus Birthday mini kit that came with the April Kits 😀

I used 8x6 white card as the base of the card and then matted the patterned paper that came in the Birthday Mini Kit onto black to create a frame.

I used a mix of colourful alpha stickers that I have had in my stash for donkey's years and black Thicks for my Salutation " You're one of kind" like a Zebra is one of kind.

The cute little Balloon charm from the Bonus Birthday Mini Kit I have used as the apostrophe in "you're" with some raffia to tie it in.

This gorgeous little wood veneer Zebra has been in waiting to come out for a special moment. I actually have a few more of him sitting in the draw which I am sure I will use in the near future in one or two of the scrapbook albums I create in the future.

The ribbon I have used across the bottom of the card is also from the Bonus Birthday Mini Kit.

I hope you like the idea of this card as much as my Grandson loved his birthday card.

Raelene - May Fundraising Kit - Strong

When I was packing for a trip on the Tilt Train with my son for his Rheumatology appointment I knew I would take my TN set up but that I wanted to add all the flat pieces from the May Fundraising Kit to it as so many of the photos I currently am working with are of our EDS journey.

The first photo I chose to scrap was this photo of C having his first trip to the park using his wheelchair.  I journal about how the wheelchair gave him more independence and how important that was.

Having cut my tissue paper into strips made it even easier to scrap on the Tilt Train as those tray tables are very small so the less I needed to to do pull a layout together the better.  The only cutting I did was my photo and I just tore the length of the tissue paper to shorten it.
I had scraps of the gorgeous blue paper from another layout with me so I used one of these as a matte for my photo.  Adding some of the blue butterfly washi to the layers behind the photo.

I repeated things a little on the left with the left over piece of tissue paper and some of the washi and I added the left over piece of the cut file that says strong to that cluster as my title.  Ideally I wanted my titled to be Independence but I had to work with what I had and strong did seam perfect for the photo I was using.

I took some clearer photos once I was home.

I love how the layers turned out on the left, you get to see more of what is hidden behind the photo and it just pulls the layout together.

I love the torn effects of the tissue paper, and the little butterflies on the washi tap.

There are still a couple of the May Fundraising Kits left so if you would love one of these kits head to the Subscription Tab and fill in the form or email scrappingfunkits@gmail.com

Sarah - Warrior Card

Hello crafty friends, I am pleased to bring you another project using the Scrapping Fun Kits' May Fundraising kit. Let's take a look;
The background for this card was created using Ken Oliver's Color Burst pigment powders. Spritz the cardstock with water and apply a small amount of powder. The explosion of colour is just amazing to watch. This needs to be dried quickly and well.
Using gel medium, I adhered some of the tissue paper from the kit to the background, layered with some of the kit's gorgeous butterfly washi tape.
I fussy cut one of the butterflies from the kit and adhered it to the card. I also applied some Dylusions paint through some punchinella to give the background some darker contrast.
The wooden veneer word 'Warrior' was adhered and the card front mounted on black cardstock to finish off the card.

Amy- May Fundraising Kit- Beautiful, Strong Warrior

Hey SFK peeps,
I am back up with a 12x12 layout using more of the May Fundriasing Kit to bring this layout together.

My background patterned paper is from a Pink Paislee collection and I have gone colour that would not clash with the gorgeous blue patterned paper that came in the kit. I also thought a black and white photo would allow me to work with a mix of colours in my layout to incorporate some of the various colours used in this months kit.

I knew I wanted to use the blue butterfly patterned paper as a larger photo matte (and may have been hoarding most of it throughout this month to use on 1 main project hehe) and I even kept the hearts that I had previously punched out, there as I though it added subtle visual interest to that corner in the end. I added the zebra pattern tissue paper as a layer behind my photo matte just to add some texture and some more colour to the layout.

I knew that I would fussy cut the beautiful piece out and add the wood veneer words to make my title and decided these worked well in the bottom left corner as it didn't take away from my face and the die cut piece added some softness.

I balanced this cluster and the softness with the cluster in the top right of the photo using two butterflies , fussy cut from the kit and propped up on some foam tape and the beautiful purple charm also in the kit (and on a personal level symbolic of 1 of the illnesses I battle- Fibromyalgia).

I have tied in more of the purple using the gorgeous purple ribbon along the bottom of the page as well as some purple sequins from my stash, that just add some bling to the page (along with the black sequins).

The quote is from Pinterest and I added the border to ground the page and bring it all in together , especially the right side where the sprinkle of sequins are.

I hope you have enjoyed this layout and I will see you in June as I have joined the team as a permanent design team member here at Scrapping Fun, something I am very excited about!

Happy scrapping
Ames

Lauren ~~ May Moodboard ~~ Art Journal Page

Hey Everyone,

This month's moodboard, combined with May being fundraising month I was inspired to make this art journal page.

I started by using gel medium to add ripped pieces of the collage paper and tissue paper from the May Fundraising kit.

I added some purple and blue acrylic paint in the white spaces and overlapping part of the papers, to blend it.

I then used the cut apart wreath and butterflies to make clusters.

I pulled apart the layers of the blue flower to add texture without too much bulk.

Strips of collage paper where added to top and bottom cluster, these I outlined with sharpie.
I added ribbon to top cluster, and washi to bottom cluster.

The great thing about using a kit means everything goes together really well, especially with the scrapping fun kits. That way I dont have to have the same pieces in each cluster, rather a variety.

I then used black and gold pens to add crosses around the page, and black ink to add ink splatters.
This adds the look of texture without the bulk, also makes the page look like spent lots of time using stencils and different mediums.

I used pinterest to find a quote about Strong, the word in the moodboard, finding the quote "Your Illness doesnt define you - your strength and courage does!"
I used thick sharpie to add the quote straight onto the page. It is little tricky to read in some parts but I like that look on art journal pages at times because it can be about the process rather than having it all neat and legible.

thanking you all :)

Morgyn ~ May Fundraising Kit ~ Monthly Planner Spread in my Travelers Notebook

Hi Everyone,

I am using my travellers notebook planner to decorate my monthly spread for May.

I really liked the zebra straw that came in this months kit but couldn't work out how I would be able to use it on a page.  Then I thought maybe if I cut it up the middle it would be flat enough?  So i sliced up the middle and flattened it out a little but it was still a tad bulky so I pulled the back couple of layers off and voilà perfect to attach to the top of my pages.

Next I fussy cut out the butterfly and attached that in the top left corner, there was a space with no numbers so it fitted nicely in there.  Next I added the beautiful butterfly washi tape to the bottom right corner and I finished it off with 2 half strips of the black and white chevron washi to mark a couple of important dates for May.

Thats it for this one, nice and quick and easy.

Thanks for stopping by

Morgyn  xx

Sarah - Mixed Media canvas for the May Moodboard Challenge

Hello crafty friends, Sarah here again for a share of my project designed with the May Moodboard in mind. Lets take a look at the Moodboard for this month; What caught my attention from this Moodboard was the word Strong, the little crosses and the colours purple and blue. I decided to make a mixed media canvas inspired by this colour palette.
I used a variety of paints in my stash and layered colours on to the canvas board using a palette knife, drying in between colours. This did take some time due to the drying and I am not a patient crafter!
I then used my 3x5 inch gel plate to stamp some further paint and patterns on to the canvas. I then added some stamping with the same coloured paints to create a tone on tone effect.
To get some additional texture, I added some water to some acrylic paint and dripped it from the top of the canvas and dried it with a heat gun. To finish off the canvas I used some Posca paint pens for extra marks and adhered the 'strong' white die cut that is the in Scrapping Fun Kits May embellishment kit. Let's look at some close up shots;

Lisa - May Fundraising Kit - Strong

Hello everyone and welcome to my second layout using the May embellishment kit from Scrapping Fun. All proceeds from the sale of this kit go to the Starlight Children's Foundation**.

This is a very special kit and when I saw it I thought of my gorgeous Aunty who passed away last year after a long battle with Cancer. She was a beautiful strong lady and held a special place in my heart as we both shared the same Birthday which I remember celebrating many times together.

It is often difficult to scrap memorial type scrapbook pages but the colours and butterflies in this layout inspired me to do this one.

I have placed the funeral memorium in a plastic sleeve which can be removed to view.

The background cardstock is embossed cardstock from Bazzill which I have kind of whitewashed using some Gesso and then water. I separated the die cut from the kit and have coloured it by spraying some purple mist onto plastic and the pressing the die cut into it. This has been adhered to the plastic sleeve. The main photo is also on top of the plastic sleeve and underneath the photo on the memorium is another photo of my dear Aunty.

I have used 2 photos of my Aunty & I celebrating our birthday together and mounted all this onto the Gorgeous distress butterfly paper in the Kit. I added a doily for a little romance and softness.

I fussy cut the butterflies and placed them around the layout with these gorgeous silk flowers.

You can see where I have attached the plastic sleeve to the layout using the Butterfly washi from the Kit.

And then I have mirrored a similar embellishment cluster on the left of the photos using the rest of the die cut, fussy cut butterfly, the little white Rosettes and the "warrior wood veneer from the Kit. Along with a couple more silk flowers from my stash.

I found doing this layout very empowering. I have MS and often get down about the prospect of my future but my Aunty fought a much more aggressive disease that took her away much too young. But I feel very humbled to have had the opportunity to have the memories of her love and influence in my life, which I will cherish forever.

Raelene - May Moodboard - Zebra Strong

The May Moodboard is inspired by my and my children's journey with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and ME/CFS so I wanted to document part of that journey for the Moodboard Challenge.

I chose this photo of my hand taped to stabilise my finger that keeps dislocating.

I used part of the paper from the May Fundraising Kit (note my colour is slightly different to the rest of the team and the customer kits as my copy was a misprint), a strip of the zebra tissue paper which I tore at each end layered on top the blue butterfly paper to mat my photo with.
I cut my photo in 2 and trimmed a little off so it could be spread over the 2 pages in my TN.

I then journalled on my page about how the taping helped reduce the frequency of my finger dislocating.

You can see how this layout came together in my Process Video.

A quick layout but I love the results.

Lauren ~ May Fundraising Kit ~ Strong

Hey everyone,

Welcome back to another month, and this one is a great one.

Now to my page that I made using this delightful kit.

The cutfile was my start of the inspiration, I placed it on the page (it has a little stick ability left from the cutting mat - which cant see and doesn't leave a residue behind).

I then used black spray mist to spray over the page, over the cutfile and make a random edge, i.e. I didn't fill the page with ink right to all four edges. Once I lifted the cutfile a lovely white space in the shape of the cutfile was left. Exactly what I had hoped would be left!

I then did the bleaching/water droplet technique. I placced some water in my hand and flicked it onto the spray mist on the page. I waited a few minutes and then used paper towel to dry it up, because the spray mist is water reactive it takes away the colour from those spots where water was. Gives a great look to mist, gives it depth and the look of texture rather than flat colour :)

I also watered down, a little, purple acylic paint and used it with a paint brush to make ink splatters. these do dry dark and look like black splatters but that adds to background nicely.

I found a tiny photo of myself that I had printed, it has been printed on the selphy at 2.1 x 3.4 inches (a special size that can be purchased for selphy - and is such a fun size too). I did cut it down a little more to make it more square.

I matted it with the zebra print tissue paper and small half border on bottom left edges using the collage print (a piece that I had left after using it for my moodboard layout).

I nestled the photo in between the top butterflies, and get started on the embellishment clusters.

I had already taken apart the layers of the large paper flower in the kit, and I used two layers (laid alternatively) underneath the ribbon flower to start a small cluster at bottom left of the photo.

I then thought I would experiment with cutting open the zebra print paper straw, thankfully it worked the way I wanted. I was able to cut up the middle of the straw and flatten it out, this was the start to the strip cluster beneath the title and butteflies. I did have to hold the straw for a few moments whilst glue dried as it wanted to curl up a little.

I added strip of the purple butterfly ribbon and strip of tissue paper to the paper straw strip.

I wanted some more butterflies to add 3D look to the layout, but as I had already used the cut apart butterflies I was unsure for a moment. Then I bravely cut off a couple butterflies from cutfile (there is still a decent cutfile piece left to use) and I place one next to ribbon flower cluster, one above the word strong and  a 3 butterfly cluster above the ribbon and paper straw strip. To get them to stand out more, as they where black from spraying over top of them, I used my gold pitt pen to colour 3 out of the five added butterflies in.

Finish with a doodling double line thick border and wella beauty.

Thanks for reading, check out further creations on this blog and subscribe or purchase the kit to be able to support Starlight Children's Foundation in May.

Lisa - May Fundraising Kit - Sisterz

Good day everyone and welcome to my first layout using the incredible May embellishment kit from Scrapping Fun. This month is very special as all profits from the sale of this kit will be donated to the Starlight Children's Foundation**.

The silver and black zebra print tissue paper in the kit is just gorgeous and I wanted to feature this in my layout. So, what I did was cut it in half and Mod Podged it to black cardstock. Then I used some patterned paper I had in my stash scraps to mount the photo on and a little extra zebra print tissue paper. I used a mix of straight cut and torn papers as I really do like the character it gives a layout.

I then used some kit embellishments to make a cluster along the bottom right of the photo. The Handmade paper and fabric flowers and the Zebra print fabric heart all compliment each other.

The Wood veneer "Strong" was fitting as they are strong as individuals and sisters. The Cork arrow and white flower are from my stash.

When I do a cluster I always lay the embellishments out first to get the right placement and then I glue everything in. Often after they are glued I add a few more to top it off. I do love embellishments.

The gorgeous butterfly ribbon and Zebra print straw, I have used under the photo.

The title was a recycling of some alphas that were sitting unused in my stash. I painted them with Gesso and some white mist. I let them dry too long before removing them from the plastic so the edges are a little rough, but I decided I liked that look and didn't try to smooth them out. I have also used a "z" instead of an "s" but again this adds to the character and "scrappiness" of a layout I feel.

So I hope you enjoyed this layout blog and hope you get behind Scrapping Fun to help them sell out of this month's kits and raise money for the Starlight Foundation.

Raelene - May Fundraising Kit - Starlight Day 2014

On Starlight Day I was inspired to scrap some photos of my daughter volunteering on Starlight Day for the first time in 2014.
Fundraising and Awareness raising has always been important to my daughter and after becoming very ill at 15 Starlight Children's Foundation provided incredibly important support to her so once she was well enough she decided to volunteer on Starlight Day and since there was no one organising in our area she took on that roll and rallied some friends to help.
They had a lot of fun dressing up and being entertaining to attract people to come over and see what it was all about.  They had a stall at the Hertitage Markets on the Thursday and our local Woolies allowed them to set up out the front on Starlight Day itself.

So back to my layout.  I pulled out any bits from the May Fundraising Kit that were purple or could be coloured purple and then I added supplies from the September 2017 Kit and a gorgeous 6x6 paper from Violet Silence by Lemon Craft.

I played around with a few bits until I had a vague idea of how I wanted to do things and then I went searching for alphas for my title.  I chose these old Thickers that you colour yourself.
To colour the Thickers I used some  Distress Ink and some Colour Blast Mica Powder in Wisteria.  I started by using my aquabrush to apply water to each letter in the shaped of the letter then picked up the yellow and added it to the water, then I added the wisteria.  I knew these colours had a strong chance of going muddy but I really wanted letters that were a yellow and purple watercolour effect.  Things were looking good and it was nearly dry so I decided to give it a light dab with a cloth and most of the colour came off, so I added more and that is when things got muddy.  I added a little more wisteria and I am happy with the results.
I had really wet these alphas so I wasn't able to finish my layout on the day as they needed to dry and I only have a small window of time to create each day.
Due to the colour coming off if I dabbed them I decided to seal them with Helmar Crystal Kote Matte Varnish once dry.

I love how they turned out.
I coloured the die cut from the May Fundraising Kit using the ink and mica powder.  I started with a layer of the ink then added the mica powder once dry.  It came apart a little which was really hand so that I could spread it around my photo.

I used the packaging technique with the left over colours on my craft sheet each time to colour some white cardstock.  Once dry I cave it a coat of Helmar Crystal Kote Matte.
