Jaymilee - Dino Kit - Birthday card / mini album

Hi everyone, Jaymilee with you Today.
I’m up on the blog today sharing something that is a little bit different that I created with the Dino Kit. My idea behind this project is a birthday card that can also be used as a mini album. So with this idea in mind I knew I needed a card base. I cut down some white cardstock from my stash to a card that had a trifold.

I covered the inside cover with sections of paper from the kit. I did this so that the person that receives the card could then use these sections to add photos. I also pinned on the dinosaur patch from the kit as both an embellishment and a gift for the person receiving the card.

Next I used the washi tape from the kit as well as the leaf trim from the kit to make a corner detail. I used hot glue to stick everything down to ensure that nothing would fall off. I then stuck on the really cute resin leaves from the kit to add some more detail to the cover.

To hold the card shut and when photos would be added I used the stretchy ribbon from the kit to make a closure for the card. I did this by trimming down the ribbon to the size I needed and simply used hot glue to attach the two ends together.

I used a green alcohol marker from my stash to write dinosaur dude across the detail on the front cover. I also added some of the dinosaur wooden buttons inside the card to go along with the dinosaur patch from the kit. This was a really fun project to make as it was super quick and something that a beginning crafter could make.

Check out some of the other ladies on the blog and what they made with this kit. That’s all from me this time.

Tania C Guest DT Take 2

Welcome back to the Whovian fun.  Here is my second project using the Who Kit from Scrappin' Fun Kits.  I am kicking myself that I did not take a pic of the kit.  Seriously it has some fantastic charms!

I went out of my comfort zone to try and do something a little different .  I tried to stay with the kit as much as possible on this one.  I used many more of the embellishments and fussy cut some of the T.A.R.D.I.S 's out.  Or is that T.A.R.D.I.I?  Doesn't sound right does it...lol.

Anyway here is the finished product.

This is a totally different style for me but it does not hurt to step out of your comfort zone.

Now can you see what I mean about those charms!  Sooo cute!  And you may noticed I used a little of the patterned paper behind the charms that match the No.4 Doctor's scarf.  It is all in the details.

Anyway thank you for joining me and my project and thank you to Raelene at Scrappin' Fun Kits
for sponsoring these projects. And thank you for having me on you blog!

Happy Crafting.

Shay - Dino Kit - Big Adventure

Hello Everyone!

Today I am up on the blog today with my 12x12 layout using the November Dinosaur Kit. I had fun with this one going outside of my comfort zone in what I like to use on my pages, especially when it comes to colour, the Orange works really well!

Loved the washi in this kit so had to use it all up on the page so I decided to use it behind the photo as a base for the beautiful blue paper that come with the kit with green and orange dinosaurs on it. I matted these with black card stock to make it pop more off the page.
I framed the photo by putting the jute lace down one side of the photo and adding the leaves with a clear adhesive glue, as you can see one leaf has vanished from the page and for those of you who have a cat you will understand why!
I used the dinosaur and to help frame the journaling to the right of the page which is the card stock that come with the kit.  I just wrote there about my grandson's love of riding his bike at his other grandparents property. We are all big on safety for the kid when on the bikes so as you can see full gear to be able to ride.

This was an easy layout to put together and only took me about an hour to do.

Other products used was lettering from Thickers and black mist spray from Kaisercraft.

Thank you for looking at my layout today I hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Lauren ~ Dino Kit ~ Excited Much ?!?!

Hey Everyone,

Another dinosaur loving crazy layout.

I got inspiration from the ledger paper in the kit that I used on the first layout, and cut out dinosaurs from coloured cardstock. I did this by printing a colouring in template to size I wanted and cut around it multiple times.

I glued these dinosaurs down the right side of 8.5x11 piece of cardstock.

I then cut the photo of Oliver down to 4x4 and matted it with the patterned paper in the kit, this helped to tie in the colours.

I stuck it to the layout, adding the hessian lace to the top as a layer. I then used the vine rope as a embellishment on top of the photo as well. I added resin leaves in a cluster to top left of photo.

I got set working on the title, I used paint pen to write in black and then once it was dry I added small detail with white paint pen.

I added the stegosaurs patch, then the journalling in that trapped space between the dinosaur and title.

To the bottom of the title I added a small cluster with a dinosaur button and enamel dots.

I added enamel dots to the top of the stegosaurs and to the hessian lace.

I completed the layout by tying to charms to cream thread to add to the top cluster, oh and a doodley border.

Thanking you,
Lauren

Katie Guest Designer Dr Who kit - Scrapbook Layout

Hello! I am back to share another Dr Who creation, and let me say it was really easy to create with this kit and I plan to do more as we are such a Dr Who family I have plenty of memories to record! To remind you this is what the Dr Who kit looks like:

No automatic alt text available.

For this page I decide to go with some Dalek photo's from this years Supanova at the Gold Coast. And because there was even a rainbow Dalek I decided I need to use some of the gorgeous galaxy washi tape to get some pinks and oranges into my page, but I layered it on paper and trimmed to size to use like a layering piece of patterned paper. I also used the specially created paper, and took some inspiration from this for my background.

I used a stencil from Vicki Boutin as it was the perfect match for the swirls on the paper, added some appropriate yellow and Tardis blue and my background was born! I also layered with some of the kits papers and the washi tape paper that I mentioned before. I decided to use the cut out "Whovian" as my title and turned it into a flag by fishtail cutting one end. Don't you dig that Dalek wood veneer too?! This was a special set that Corbett Creations did a little while ago, something that I just "had to have", as you do!

Do you love the little themed labels?! I created these from a cool "nerd" stamp set that I own and also a label stamp set using an appropriate blue for the labels and black for the phrases. This kind of thing is perfect for tucking into layers and you can personalise them for any page!

I love the epoxy Tardis! It was a perfect addition to this little cluster.

So this is my last guest post, thank you to Raelene for asking to me to play along and for the fabulous kit! I had so much fun letting my inner Dr Who nerd out!

Thanks for stopping by,

Katie x

Amy- Dino-Tastic Card- November 2018 Kit

Hey Scrappin Fun Fans,

Amy here on the blog today, with a bit of a different project to share with you. I thought that I would try my hand at using the kit this month for making a card, especially being that I have a little Miss who loves dinosaurs. I haven't made many cards so I wasn't sure how I would go , but I am happy with how this turned out.
I first up decided to use a blue piece of 12x12 cardstock and folded it half then cut it down to a 6 inch piece.
I then went through the remaining pieces of the kit I had and decided what I would use on the front; I decided that bulkier embellishments would work best on the front.

I decided to make the blue dino paper centre on the front cover and then embellish around it. I really wanted to use the vine piece and all the little resin leaves and 2 charms. So I got to work. First up sticking the paper down. I had to use glossy accents to stick down the vine piece and I tied a little knot in the top just for an added little interest and I did pop in a few little staples at the bottom of it to hold it in place. I covered the staples with a wood dinosaur shape I also glued down with glossy accents (I felt the stronger adhesive was needed on the vine material).

To balance out the heaviness of the left side I popped the flower bunch and 2 of the resin leaves along the right side.
I still felt the front was missing something so I also added some of the washi tape from the kit along the bottom.
Next I added the sentiment across the middle using the mini foam thickers from the Pink Paislee/Paige Evans Whimsical collection and I went with a subtle multicoloured effect to make it more fun and child like.

Next up was the inside of my card and it was a little more simpler. I used the book dino paper from the kit as the centre paper and backed it onto some Vicki Boutin leaf pattern paper to give it some more pop from the blue cardstock. I then bordered this with the fern print ribbon and another washi tape piece from in the kit just to give it some more emphasis and interest. I did place a strip of ribbon on the left hand side to cover the staples up too. And as an added little bonus I have put the 2 little charms from the kit onto 2 pieces of twine and hung them inside the card for the lucky owner.

I hope you have liked this slightly different project with this months kit and its given you maybe a different way of looking at your kit.
Until next time
Amy.

Lauren - Dino Kit - It's a Dinosaur World, Embrace It.

Hey everyone,

I have a son who is dinosaur crazy so thought the Dino Kit was going be fun to use to document his love.

I started with the ledger paper, backing it with a 6x8 cardstock so that I could fit it in a page protector.

I then cut out the photo of Oliver, so it was just outline of him. I stuck it to white cardstock and cut that again, giving him a white border so that it pops of the patterned paper that I was planning to stick it onto. I put it up on foam tape and positioned it onto the second patterned paper that I cut down to fit on the ledger page without covering the dinosaurs.

I cut a piece of the ribbon with a fishtail banner and layered it under the photo, then added the title and embellishments from the kit to complete this simple but effective layout. I used two alpha stickers to build the large title. I love the leaf brads and resin pieces so was great addition to the title.

The two dinosaur buttons were a great 3D pop to add interest and direct your eye to the title and the little embellishments.

Finished the entire layout with a doodley border in black.

Thanking you, for reading my blog post.
Lauren

Tania - Who Kit - WHO card

Hello everyone.  Today I am sharing something a little different.  I am Guest Designing for Scrapping Fun Kits.

This month the theme was Dr Who (hence why I jumped at the chance!)  I <3 <3 Doctor Who.  I have made 2 projects using this kit.  The second one I will share later in the month.

Now my style is a lot simpler than the average scrapbookers work.  But it is nice to see all the different ways one kit can be used.  I won't leave you in suspense any longer.  Here we go!

I did accompany my kit with Kindred Stamps Time Traveler  and an old Avery Elle set I have in my stash.  Now, can you see the hidden word in the patterned paper?  Here is a different angle to look from.

Fits perfectly with the theme of the card.  I love the silhouette technique.  Can be very effective.

I had a lot of fun making this one.  And I am sure I can find a Whovian who would love this!

To order a kit head to the Subscription Tab and fill in the form, enter Who in the promo code and Raelene will invoice you for the kit.  The kit is $14pp.

Until next time...happy crafting.

Shay - Dino Kit - Jungle Fever Birthday Card

Hello Everyone!

Today I am up on the blog with a card I made from November's Dino Kit. I love how this card turned out so simple but so much fun to make and the recipient could be an adult or a child.

I used some black, white and a green card stock from my stash to help build this card. Next I used a stamp with some embossing ink on it to make the Happy Birthday, to add to the card I used the fabulous vine embellishment from the November kit giving it dimension and a boarder.  The two brads either side of the Happy Birthday are from the kit as well. A simple design and quite quick. I love how this turned out and is going to be my grandson's 7th Birthday Card in a few weeks time.

Lauren - Who Kit - Dr. Who Junk Journal

 Hello Everyone,

These papers in the Who Kit are so lovely and I knew I wanted to document when we went to the cinema to watch the new Season recently. Here is a link to the unboxing video that me and my 12 year old son did .... https://youtu.be/Xu-_JIVSRuA

So to do this I made a Junk Journal.

I used the printed exclusive paper made by Sarah that is free with kit purchase to be my cover (I had printed it on 250gsm paper).  I cut it in half and then folded it in half and wella there is the cover hehe.

Next I folded each of the patterned paper in the collection and nestled them in each other to make the pages. I did this so that each spread in the junk journal will have one half patterned paper and the other half blank page, this was so it didn't overwhelm the layout when it came to adding photos, memoriabilla and embellishments.

I then punched holes and sewed the junk journal together. To see this in detail check out the process video here...https://youtu.be/mJOyvBpf48g

I then clipped it together with clips to hold the pages as they flattened to make the notebook.

I then got set embellishing the cover. I fussy cut the Tardis and glued it to the front page (bottom right) and used alphas from my stash to spell out Dr Who. I added a couple of wood veneer stars from the embellishment kit.

Lastly I used the language charm (not sure what language it is but it is something to do with the show - check out the link above for the unboxing where my son explains it better). I detached it from the necklace and attached it to the stitching on the spine. This must be done carefully so that the stitching doesn't break or stretch and therefore break the journal.

Hope to see you back really soon,
Lauren

Amy- DD2018 Kit- Getting Ready

Hey Scrapping Fun Fans,

Amy here with my first post using the DD2018 Kit; this is what I am calling it as I won't be documenting daily throughout December as my life is not that exciting, but my December is with bithdays as we ll as Christmas fun.
This year in thinking about how I wanted to document December I thought about what I was going to document in and I have decided to make my own Travellers Notebook as I have so much extra Christmas stash left from last year that I can use to make the pages and I thought it would be a little different , so that is what this post is about.

I have used plain old A4 copy paper as the inserts folded in half and I haven't trimmed them down as it was not to uneven when I folded them all together.

Next up was stitiching the binding down the middle. I managed to find some gold embroidery thread in an old sewing box in my cupboard- SCORE!! So using an old Amy Tangerine sewing mat and piercing tool I randomly pierced some holes along the middle of the paper.
Next up was the stitiching, which I will admit I am not a semstress so I think it is a back stitch I have used here to run through the holes and then for extra reinforcement I added some washi at the end, which I know I will cover with paper or embellishments down the track.

Now came the fun of using the kit to create my cover page. I knew I would use 1 of the papers I just needed to decide which one. I went with the the green mistletoe as I liked the busy brightness of it. It wasn't quite the full A4 size so I used the thick washi tape in the kit to create a border at the top and bottom.
I then placed the paper on the top and all done. I then worked on the main embellishment cluster which i placed in the bottom left. I placed it there as I thought it will be more stable on that side of the paper then on the right where the book opens. I have used various embellishments from the kit , as well as the hat and flower which is from the October kit, the shrimp and word stickers are from last years kits.

I have created the title for using the gold alphas in the kit and added some red bling from the October kit and the front page is created.
I then started the 1st page to show you how it can be done , but will pop up more photos as I go through in December.

I hope this gets you thinking about ways you can document December.
See you soon
Amy.

Amy- November 2018 kit- PL spread- 'Dino Girl'

Hey Scrappin Fun Fans,

Welcome to November! Yep November and how cute is this months kit!  There are so many ways this kit could be used but to start us off I decided to create a project life spread that I am putting in my daughters album. I have used the papers in this kit to not only make a journaling and filler card, but to also make little journal banners/tags on some of the photos.

I loved the little embellishments, especially those cute little leaves to add pops of colour and interest to parts of my photos, in lieu of say enamel dates or sequins.

The washi, ribbon and vine piece were great ways to add little borders on the cards or photos to block out unwanted scenery pieces, or to give a little interest behind a tag or banner piece.

You can see more closely how i created this spread by clicking on the link below and watching my YouTube video.

Until next time
Happy Scrappin
