Tania C Guest DT Take 2

Welcome back to the Whovian fun.  Here is my second project using the Who Kit from Scrappin' Fun Kits.  I am kicking myself that I did not take a pic of the kit.  Seriously it has some fantastic charms! 

I went out of my comfort zone to try and do something a little different .  I tried to stay with the kit as much as possible on this one.  I used many more of the embellishments and fussy cut some of the T.A.R.D.I.S 's out.  Or is that T.A.R.D.I.I?  Doesn't sound right does it...lol.  

Anyway here is the finished product.  

This is a totally different style for me but it does not hurt to step out of your comfort zone.

Now can you see what I mean about those charms!  Sooo cute!  And you may noticed I used a little of the patterned paper behind the charms that match the No.4 Doctor's scarf.  It is all in the details.

Katie Guest Designer Dr Who kit - Scrapbook Layout

Hello! I am back to share another Dr Who creation, and let me say it was really easy to create with this kit and I plan to do more as we are such a Dr Who family I have plenty of memories to record! To remind you this is what the Dr Who kit looks like:



For this page I decide to go with some Dalek photo's from this years Supanova at the Gold Coast. And because there was even a rainbow Dalek I decided I need to use some of the gorgeous galaxy washi tape to get some pinks and oranges into my page, but I layered it on paper and trimmed to size to use like a layering piece of patterned paper. I also used the specially created paper, and took some inspiration from this for my background.

I used a stencil from Vicki Boutin as it was the perfect match for the swirls on the paper, added some appropriate yellow and Tardis blue and my background was born! I also layered with some of the kits papers and the washi tape paper that I mentioned before. I decided to use the cut out "Whovian" as my title and turned it into a flag by fishtail cutting one end. Don't you dig that Dalek wood veneer too?! This was a special set that Corbett Creations did a little while ago, something that I just "had to have", as you do!

Do you love the little themed labels?! I created these from a cool "nerd" stamp set that I own and also a label stamp set using an appropriate blue for the labels and black for the phrases. This kind of thing is perfect for tucking into layers and you can personalise them for any page!

I love the epoxy Tardis! It was a perfect addition to this little cluster.

Tania - Who Kit - WHO card

Hello everyone.  Today I am sharing something a little different.  I am Guest Designing for Scrapping Fun Kits.

This month the theme was Dr Who (hence why I jumped at the chance!)  I <3 <3 Doctor Who.  I have made 2 projects using this kit.  The second one I will share later in the month. 

Now my style is a lot simpler than the average scrapbookers work.  But it is nice to see all the different ways one kit can be used.  I won't leave you in suspense any longer.  Here we go!

I did accompany my kit with Kindred Stamps Time Traveler  and an old Avery Elle set I have in my stash.  Now, can you see the hidden word in the patterned paper?  Here is a different angle to look from. 

Fits perfectly with the theme of the card.  I love the silhouette technique.  Can be very effective. 

 I had a lot of fun making this one.  And I am sure I can find a Whovian who would love this!

Lauren - Who Kit - Dr. Who Junk Journal

 Hello Everyone,

These papers in the Who Kit are so lovely and I knew I wanted to document when we went to the cinema to watch the new Season recently. Here is a link to the unboxing video that me and my 12 year old son did .... https://youtu.be/Xu-_JIVSRuA

So to do this I made a Junk Journal.

I used the printed exclusive paper made by Sarah that is free with kit purchase to be my cover (I had printed it on 250gsm paper).  I cut it in half and then folded it in half and wella there is the cover hehe.

Next I folded each of the patterned paper in the collection and nestled them in each other to make the pages. I did this so that each spread in the junk journal will have one half patterned paper and the other half blank page, this was so it didn't overwhelm the layout when it came to adding photos, memoriabilla and embellishments.

I then clipped it together with clips to hold the pages as they flattened to make the notebook.

I then got set embellishing the cover. I fussy cut the Tardis and glued it to the front page (bottom right) and used alphas from my stash to spell out Dr Who. I added a couple of wood veneer stars from the embellishment kit.

Lastly I used the language charm (not sure what language it is but it is something to do with the show - check out the link above for the unboxing where my son explains it better). I detached it from the necklace and attached it to the stitching on the spine. This must be done carefully so that the stitching doesn't break or stretch and therefore break the journal.

Katie - Dr Who Kit -

Hello! I was so excited when Raelene invited me to play with the awesome Dr Who kit! I have been a Dr Who kid since I was about 6 and now my 17 year old daughter is very much a Whovian too! When they brought back Dr Who it was a family affair to all sit and watch together, and it mostly still is even though a couple of the kids are either not living at home or not as interested any more.

For the page that I created I decided I also wanted to create a galaxy style background using my distress oxide inks. I mean it seemed an appropriate place for Dr Who after all! Then I got to it and picked some pieces from the kit that worked with the background and my photos and a page was born!

The main photo on this page was one that my daughter and I had taken at Supernova this year with Peter Capaldi and Pearl Mackie, the most recent Dr Who and his companion! We were so very excited one of the most exciting fan girl moments ever!!

I am really pleased with how the background turned out! If you are interested, the colour inks that I used were: Picked Raspberry, Faded Jeans, Black Soot, Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber, Seedless Preserves and Salty Ocean. I then used some water splatters to lift some of the ink for a star effect.

To create more vibrant stars I grabbed some liquitex ink in white and copper and added some droplets, some of the white ones I made into more cross like shapes for the sparkle effect.

I didn't need to do too much more with how bright the background was, I grabbed the die-cut Tardis (added the details!) and also cut out the two smaller Tardises (how do you make Tardis a plural??? 😂). I added these on my page around the photos and one of them like it is moving through space.

I grabbed some of the Tardis blue trim and thread it through the sonic screwdriver and added this to my page, as well as all of the wood veneer stars. I also created a mat behind the bottom photo using the British themed washi tape, this helps to ground the photos.

And lastly I used a circle punch to cut somewhere to add my journaling and backed that with some of the Tardis paper using a slightly bigger circle punch.

And there you have it, a Dr Who themed page about the day my daughter and I met the Doctor!!!

Raelene - Dr Who Kit - TARDIS Banner for our Dr Who celebrations

I am loving doing themed days with the kids, it is a great way to get E doing fine motor skill and sensory stuff.  I am making a couple of decorations myself and Today's post is one of those projects.

I really wanted a banner to hang for the significant Who days, aka season premiere, anniversary/my granddaughter's Birthday and the Christmas special/Boxing Day and this kit was perfect for making a banner.

I bought some burlap banners in bulk a while ago and used 6 pieces to make this banner.

I used my Silhouette Curio to diecut the letters to spell TARDIS from some royal blue cardstock and I grabbed out all the trims from my stash that might work with this.




Here is a video of my process of creating this banner.
Note: I was still working on the kit so I added the trim from the kit after finishing the video, check the photos below for the results.

I used Helmar's Premium Craft Glue for this project as it would give the hold needed for a item that will be hanging in my lounge room.

 

I used the Handles cut file and a scrap of silver mylar to create my Cyberman heads.  I then smudged a mix of gesso and grey ink onto them to make them look more beaten up like Handles was.
