Karen - May Kit - My Heart is Full

May Kit - 12 x 12 Layout - My Heart is Full

What a great colour scheme for the May 2019 kit. The papers were so great, I had to use them as a focus for my first layout, so I decided die cut the paper with different sized love heart dies.

I had a couple of photos I wanted to use, so I also used some of the paper hearts as a backdrop for these photos.

I used cardboard to lift some of the love hearts off the page to add some depth in the layering.

I then checked my stash and found some old Kaisercraft stickers, the colours matched great and I love the font style and sentiments, so these worked perfectly for me.

I also added some Tim Holtz tiny sentiments near each of them too.

To keep the love heart theme, so this layered/textured love heart from the kit was the perfect addition.

I added some glossy accents to 3 of the love hearts before as well as using some of the flowers from the kit at the top right and bottom left.

I finished with a smattering of sequins that were also in the kit - I love the deep red contrast these bring to the orange muted tones of the papers and that's my layout done - so quick!

Amy- Art Journal of Hope- May Kit

Hey Scrapping Fun Fans,

Amy here with another messy media art journal page for you using this months fundraising kit. I was really inspired by this kit to really share the message of hope and strength.
An art journal page with a mix of warm tones where just the right way to share this thought with you and using the elements from the kit. I started with building my background of a rose gold Kaisercraft ink mist.

Next i then added some of the patterned paper from the kit, that gave me the mixed media idea- I tore the bottom to give some texture to the edging.
For some texture and loveliness I stencilled these beautiful flowers using an orange tone Dylusions paint and sponge to gently push the paint through the stencil.

I then went on to add my embellishments from our beautiful kit this month; the flower bunch and ribbon, the Charms Creations heart and twine and the sequins for some sparkle.

Art journal page of hope and strength complete, and I completely love how this page turned out. I really had no plan just inspiration from the pieces in this kit.

See you again soon,
Happy scrapping
Amy

Julie - May 2019 Kit - Family 2013 Layout

Good morning

Today's share is the first layout I have created using the May 2019 Scrapping Fun Kits kit.

I have done an unboxing video to show you what you get in the kit. You can view it here

I have also videoed the process of creating this layout. You can check that out here.

The kit is full of brightly coloured red and orange items and papers so I chose this photo that is mostly black except for the red cardigan I am wearing and the orange shirt my sister is wearing.

The background has three layers, the orange cardstock the black cardstock and then the white cardstock that I have applied Modelling Paste through a Kaisercraft stencil called Damask. Once that was dry I dribbled some Ranger Spray Ink in Squeezed Orange down the page and helped it to run by spraying with water. To finish the background off I stitched around it with black thread and my sewing machine.

I cut one of the patterned papers from the kit so I could have some showing above and some below the photo, which I had double matted on black and red cardstocks.
I used the baker's twine from the kit to wrap around the bottom of the photo.
A strip of yellow/lime patterned paper from my stash was used to create a fishtail banner to go horizontally behind the photo and a piece of the orange cardstock that I used as the bottom layer of the background was punched along one edge using a Martha Stewart punch and layered on top of the yellow/lime paper. I also added a piece of red cardstock behind the patterned paper from the kit that is behind the photo.

I used my hot glue gun to attach some cardboard behind the photo to give it some height and then used the hot glue again to attach the photo to the layout. I also used hot glue to attach the felt heart and paper roses from the kit.

I cut the title on my Scan N Cut using black cardstock for the shadow and the plain orange cardstock for the letters.

To finish the layout off I added some gems to the exclusive Charms Creations felt heart.

Lauren ~~ May Embellishment Kit ~~ 12x12 - From Where I Stand

Hey Everyone,

I am back with a mixed media grungy layout using the May Fundraising Kit.

Scrapping Fun Kits is fundraising for Starlight Children’s Foundation this month. All profits from sales of the May Embellishment Kit and kit extras will be donated to Starlight Children’s Foundation. If you would like to donate directly to Starlight Children’s Foundation you can do so via their website https://starlight.org.au/donation-form

I started by watering down some blue and purple acrylic paint and used the packaging technique to adhere to the page, randomly but mostly in middle in a vertical line.

I bordered my photo with zebra tissue paper (matting the whole photo), ripping the tissue paper on the bottom edge. I then used leftover pieces of the collage paper, making it banner on either side.

I added this to the middle of the page, in line with mixed media packaging background.

I then decided I wanted to have this mixed media piece backed onto another white cardstock. So I ripped both edges so that it would sit up on the border piece as a bit of interest. I also added another ripped layer of white cardstock, so that there was three layers of white cardstock to the layout.

As I was putting the mixed media piece of cardstock onto the plain white 12x12 piece I realised that the scrap strips of the zebra stripe tissue paper would add great interest if added to both sides. So I did just that !

I then got to embellishing, I added a part of beautiful ribbon, to bottom left of the photo. Adding the amazing Charms Creations felt zebra heart to start to combine the photo and the cluster as one.

I new these wood veneer words needed to nestle around the felt heart. I cut some butteflies and made then sit 3D around the photo, like they are flying - this helps to draw eye across the layout.

I added small amount of journalling to bottom cluster, and the title to sit across the top of the photo.

Looking at the layout as a whole I knew it was missing a doodley border - so I used a thick sharpie and drew few lines to left and right vertical edges.

Ta Da!

Amy- Guest designer - May Fundraising Kit -12x12 layout

Hey all,
I am up as guest designer this month and today I have my 1st project to share with you using the May Fundraising Kit. I thought for my 1st project I would show how you could use this kit to document something other then chronic illness. So here I am documenting a rare nice photo of my son and I at at a recent family event, I am actually documenting the strong and unique bond that we share.
I used a distress oxide to colour the word 'strong' cut file and used it as a kind of title. I have also used a variety of the embellishments that came in the kit to embellish my page (aren't they just adorable) and the zebra pattern tissue paper as a matte for my photo.

I do have a process video over on my channel so be sure to pop over and check it out too.
