Raelene - White with 1 November Challenge - ET Awareness

When I saw the colour prompt for this month it was really special to me as I have been planning to do a fundraiser inspired by my Mum's journey with a rare blood cancer next year and had just started to select items for that kit.  The colour for Essential Thrombocythlamia is Orange so the kit will have some lovely orange bits.

This was a difficult layout for me to do mentally as I was working on it in October which is always a tough month for me as her anniversary and her birthday both fall in October but I think it was a important step in my journey of grief.

I wanted to make a TN sized layout to add into my October Daily as a tip in for the date of her anniversary, so I cut some watercolour paper to size as my base.

I pulled out my orange bits from the fundraising kit and from my October 2017 kit.  As well as my Distress Oxide in Carved Pumpkin and just started playing.

Here is a process video showing how it came together.  The next day I decided to change it a little so check out the below pic for the finished result.

In addition to the paper bag I added a label and flower from the October 2017 Kit cut apart and added a number 9 sticker to form a sort of date cluster for my October Daily.

I greatly appreciate all the support I had with my fundraiser in May.  Due to the support of my subscribers and fans I was able to make a good sized donation and with your continued support hope to do so again next year.  I will announce which charity it will be as soon as I have the donation approval letter from them, so make sure to check our social media regularly so you don't miss out on this announcement as Facebook doesn't always show you posts from pages you follow.

Raelene - White with 1 August Challenge - Selfie

I was so excited when I saw the August colour for White with 1as it is one of the colours featured in my September 2018 Kit so you are getting a special sneak peek of September with this layout.
I have a Special Offer for White with 1 fans and Scrapping Fun Kits fans, if you order and pay for the August and September Kits I will ship September with your August Kit, so if you order in the first week of the month depending on how the post is going it should reach you with enough time to create a gorgeous layout for August White with 1.  This offer is only available to Australian residents due to the delays that can occur with International Post.

Unfortunately I forgot to use this month's sketch but my layout kind of turned out looking like the sketch so I wonder if it was in the back of my mind while I was creating.

In addition to the gorgeous Yellow items from the September 2018 Kit I used the White lace and daisies from the August 2018 Kit, the white flower from our School Kit and the Yellow butterfly charm from the September 2017 kit.

I started with the gorgeous Yellow Daisy paper and placed my 3 photos I was trying to decide on on it to work out which one suited this paper best.  Once that photo was decided on I knew I needed to use the Selfie word with this photo.  It is a selfie my daughter took in the car mirror on her way to her first ever day volunteering to fundraise for Starlight Children's Foundation.

I then played with the flowers to created a cluster and the lace from the August kit.  Once I had a basic idea of how this would work I started gluing things down with Helmar Acid Free Glue and Helmar Craft Glue.
The little daisies from the August 2018 Kit added a lovely little pop to the flower cluster.

I added the yellow straw and vintage crochet flower to the left side of the paper and flower cluster, along with the white lace daisy from the August 2018 Kit, it really helped finish off the main part of the layout.

Once I had the main part of the layout done I felt it needed something else so I decided to add some of this gorgeous washi to the top right and bottom left corner and to pull it in with the main part of the layout I added a piece under the main part of the layout, thankfully I hadn't glued the paper all the way to the edge.

I decided to add some of the yellow lace to the washi on the corners so then added it under the white lace to pull that in too.  I added a layer under the middle of the white lace which gives a nice hint through the white.

I also added the little daisies to the corner clusters to help make the corner clusters balance with the rest of the layout.
And I finished off the top cluster with this Yellow Butterfly Charm from the September 2017 Kit.

I finished my layout with a yellow doodle border, off camera.  I love the finished layout.

There are still a few spaces left for August and September so if you would love these kits head to the Subscription Tab and fill in the form.  If you want both click for a single kit enter September in the promo code so I know you want a 2 month subscription.

Raelene - White with 1 June Challenge - Marvelous Technology

Raelene here with my Guest Designer layout for the White with 1 June Challenge.
When I saw the name of this month's colour I just had to try and include some bits from the STEM/STEAM kit.  In addition to the bits from the April Kit I pulled out supplies from the May kit, a paper from a TN kit and supplies from a upcoming kit so I would have a variety to choose from.  Unfortunately my shade wasn't quiet right but

I was torn between photos of the boys first days of school this year or photos from morning tea with my cousin last year, in the end I went with the school photos as Mr C loves space so the prompt really drew me to recording a memory specific to my boys.

Due to the length of my ribbon I decided to do a TN layout as it was only a couple of millimetres too short so I cut it so the gap would be behind the embellishment on the journalling spot, this flair from the May 2017 Kit hid the gap nicely.

Instead of the journalling the sketch shows I cut down a paper bag to size and used some Helmar Professional Acid Free Glue to stick the base and side back together and used this for some hidden journalling, the sketch had a small tab on the journalling card so the flap of the bag was perfect for this.

As this layout is about how technology has allowed my kids to attend school from home and learn about all kinds of wonderful things I decided to use the Mars Rover Flair and a Moon Sticky note for the bottom embellishment cluster with 2 cute washi from the TN Kits.

I love how this layout turned out.

Raelene - White with 1 May Challenge - Baby Girl

Raelene here with my Guest Designer layout for the White with 1 May Challenge.
This colour was perfect for scrapping this precious photo of my granddaughter as it matched her cute beanie so well.

Majority of the items used in this layout came from a upcoming kit which was inspired by this month's colour prompt.
The paper frame and the smaller piece of paper are from the TN Kit range and the cute daisies are from the June 2017 kit.

You can see how this layout came together in my Process Video here.

I used the frame to add a bit of extra dimension to the bottom left embellishment cluster.

I cut part of the large chiffon flower from the kit away to use as a layer in this cluster, I love how it pops out from under the piece of crochet doily.

Once I started playing with the supplies and creating layers and clusters I just kept adding bits and I love how it turned out.

Scrapping Fun Kits is fundraising for Starlight Children’s Foundation this month.  All profits from sales of the May Embellishment Kit and kit extras will be donated to Starlight Children’s Foundation.  If you would like to donate directly to Starlight Children’s Foundation you can do so via their website  https://starlight.org.au/donation-form

Raelene - White with 1 April Challenge - Friends

Raelene here with my Guest Designer layout for the White with 1 April Challenge.
The March Kit had some pieces that were perfect for the April Challenge so I set the 2 items aside for this challenge and pulled some other cute bits from a upcoming kit.

You can see how this layout came together in my Process Video.

I started by selecting a photo that would work with the sketch and the colour.
This photo taken on the day my Mum met her lifelong best friend in 1982 was a weird size due to how my local photo printing place resized it to print, it had been a square photo but they made it a 3 x 6 inch photo.  So I thought this was a good one for the sketch instead of 3 small photos and due to the colouring in the photo brown suited quiet well.

I stayed fairly true to the sketch with this one, I loved the hidden journalling option in it and used the tag to record what event this photo was from.

I used the felt trim from the March Kit instead of paper for the top right section of the sketch and the ribbon from the kit as the ribbon in the sketch.  I also trimmed some flowers, leaves and a bit of vine from the felt trim to use as embellishments.
The other papers are up for consideration for a upcoming kit, what do you think of them?

I wanted to add this lovely lace that is from a upcoming kit so I added a small bit just under the photo mat on the left bottom paper, I love the little extra pop it gave the layout.

How cute is this burlap flower that will be in a upcoming kit?

I love how the leaves from the felt trim work in with the flower and lace.

This friends chipboard from the School Kit was the perfect title for such a important day.

I hope this inspires you to record a childhood memory and join in the White with 1 Challenge.

Raelene - White with 1 March Challenge

Raelene here with my Guest Designer layout for the White with 1 March Challenge.
As soon as I saw the colour prompt and moodboard I was excited, I knew my upcoming St Paddy's kit was perfect for this challenge.
I wanted a few more green bits so I added 2 items from the upcoming Autumn TN kit, the white flower from the School Kit and some tiny resin flowers from the October 2017 kit and a item from a upcoming Embellishment kit.

You can see how this layout came together in my Process Video.

I started by mixing some blue and yellow distress inks to get a shade of green that would suit this month's colour and used packaging technique to add colour to my white cardstock.
Next I added a strip of washi to break up the page and get things started.  Then I started building my layers.

How gorgeous is that green lace and felt trim, just perfect for this challenge.

The green paper from the upcoming Autumn TN kit was a perfect addition to my layers.

The white flower from the School kit was perfect to combine with the tiny resin flower from the October 2017 kit, the Frame from the upcoming Autumn TN kit and this cute chiffon flower from a upcoming embellishment kit.
Edited on May 31st 2018 - The Chiffon Flower is from the June 2018 Kit.

I love how this  layout turned out.  I enjoyed it so much that I kept out my St Paddy's kit and created another Green and white layout which I will share with you later in the month.

The prize from Scrapping Fun Kits this month is one of our sold our St Paddy's kits, if  the winner has already bought the kit I will exchange the kit for a shop credit.

I look forward to seeing what you create so please let me know if you enter.

Raelene - White with 1 February Challenge

I am so excited to be sponsoring White with 1 for all of 2018.
As a sponsor I get to be a Guest Designer so today I have a layout for you for the White with 1 February Challenge.

There is a cute sketch this month so I printed it and 3 others on a A4 sheet and cut them apart so I can have a little hard copy version to guide me while I scrap.

I knew the Lace Heart from the February 2018 Embellishment Kit was going to be perfect for this sketch so that was one of the first things I pulled out to use.

I then covered my desk in supplies that suited the colour prompt.
Then went through my photos to find one that would suit these supplies.  I chose a photo of my hubby and boys at my BIL and SILs wedding as their wedding colour was this shade of pink choosing this photo helped me downsize my supply selection a little.

Again I found myself pulling supplies from past and future kits including June 2017, December 2017, February 2018 and items from my TN kits and my oops pile I keep for myself.
Only the big piece of pink paper is from my stash, the rest is from my kits.

This Washi from the February 2018  Embellishment Kit was just perfect for this layer in the sketch.  I put it on some white cardstock so the paper and tag underneath wouldn't show through.
It has a pale peach coloured heart on it so I coloured it with a old marker I had in a bright pink colour.

I coloured the paper doily and crocheted doily medalion with a couple of pink inks as I felt the layout needed these to be pink.

This colour prompt was the nudge I needed to record the cute story of my son's being Pageboys and the suit hire shop sending the wrong sized pants for Mr E so he had to wear tracky dacks instead as that was all I had with me after a long tilt train journey.

I have loved creating for this month's White with 1 Challenge and I hope to see you  join me in entering.

The prize from Scrapping Fun Kits this month is one of our sold our February kits, if a subscriber wins who already has the kit I will exchange the kit for a shop credit.

I look forward to seeing what you create so please let me know if you enter.

I have 2 spaces left for the February kit so if you would like to subscribe head to the Subscription Tab and fill in the form.

Kraft Plus Challenge - Wake Up And Smell The Inspiration

Check out this awesome Caffeine Hit Moodboard  for January's moodboard for Kraft plus Challenge. As Scrapping Fun Kits is a sponsor this month I got to make a layout using this moodboard.

Now this was a fun challenge - I dont drink coffee and I have never used kraft cardstock as the background, so I had to think about it before creating lol. I think this overthinking hindered the process because I made a layout that I was unhappy with ...surprisingly only using watercolour paints and a photo....

Starting again produced this amazing layout (even if I do say so myself hehe)

I found this photo of my eldest son having his first cup of tea - hence the bed hair hehe. I grabbed a English breakfast teabag out of the cupboard and boiled the kettle to get the creative juices flowing. I used the teabag to splat colour onto the background - like mixed media packaging technique (without the packaging). This was inspired the top photo in the moodboard with the coffee split on the table and boy was it cool to see how well the splatters appeared on the page in a very organic manner.

Whilst I waited for these tea splatters to dry I focused on layering my photo. I cut the photo down to 4x4 size and added some book paper behind, mostly to the left and then kraft paper bag in two layers around the photo. This was positioned so the the text paper was showing more on the left and kraft more to right, top and bottom of the photo. I added fun foam to the bag to lift it from the background and was thinking it was done but boy was I wrong.

I grabbed a white doily and laid it flat on the background and then the raised photo and layers on top, this gave nice depth to the layers rather than them all being lifted or level on the layout. I added the small brown/creme doily to break up the whiteness that the doily brought to the photo cluster.

I had brillant idea to add the teabag label and string to top of the photo as an embellishment and it worked as well as I imagined :) I added the red label to bottom right of photo to balance that pop of red.
You can check out the close up photo of the photo cluster.

Now I could see that the layout was coming to a complete state, and rummaged around in my thickers box and pulled out these fun white thickers and made the title (inspired by the moodboard) and used thick white uniball pen to scripty write the last word of the title to made it formal and casual altogether - bringing the layout to cohesive state.

I added some white ink splatters with a paint pen and called it done. Then I remembered the wood veneer tea cups I had started with and added them in three clusters, as well as doodley border with uniball pen again - to complete the design.

Go check out the other layouts made for the challenge as well as join in the great challenge yourself to go into the winning for scrapping fun kits and other sponsers prizes.

Raelene - White with 1 January Challenge

I am so excited to be sponsoring White with 1 for all of 2018.
As a sponsor I get to be a Guest Designer so today I have a layout for you for the White with 1 January Challenge.

As my kits are often more than 1 colour I went through all my kit supplies for previous kits and upcoming kits to find some goodies to use for this colour prompt, so you get a sneak peek of some supplies that won't feature in kits until Winter 2018.

I have a Processing Video for you.

I started by placing the embellishments and papers from my stash that would suit on my desk to  inspire me and found a photo that would work with the supplies, I also pulled out a stamp that would coordinate with the gorgeous butterfly washi and a ink pad that would suit this colour prompt.

How gorgeous is the washi and lace that will be in a upcoming TN and/or Embellishment kit? (The gorgeous butterfly washi wound up in the May Fundraising Kit)
And that flower that will be in a upcoming embellishment kit is so cute.

I decided on  a TN layout as I am loving how quick they are to  put together  and  I love the size, however my insert has cream paper so I had to cover it with some white paper, I just used normal printer paper.

I have loved creating for this month's White with 1 Challenge and I hope to see you  join me in entering.
The prize from Scrapping Fun Kits this month is one of our sold out December kits, if a subscriber wins who already has the kit I will exchange the kit for a shop credit.

I look forward to seeing what you create so please let me know if you enter.

I have one space left for the January kit so if you would like to subscribe head to the Subscription Tab and fill in the form.

Sarah - Kraft+ Challenge Guest DT - Think Big

I am pleased to be representing Scrapping Fun Kits as a sponsor of this months Kraft Plus Challenge. This months challenge, as pictured above is think BIG. For my layout I used a BIG tag and BIG letters for my title. Lets take a look at the layout below;
The background of this layout is a Kraft glittered cardstock, edged with blue paint to compliment the colours of the tag on it. Firstly, I took the large tag, 12x20cms and added various colours of Dylusions paints to it using my fingers.
I then added the layers behind the photo. I am working on a Family 2017 pocket page album and am using this 8.5x11 inch page for the April cover page. The photo is of my boys on a walk we did in a local park. I layered the photo, as seen below with patterned paper, punchinella and a dotted paper bag from my stash that I tore to add texture. I used some of the embellishments from D-lish Scraps (dude with attitude label) and wooden arrows to add to the tag.
I adhered the tag to the background page and added some BIG alphabet stickers I had in my stash from Creative Memories - so long ago. I outlined these with black ink and adhered them down. A simple but pretty layout with the Kraft glittered background showing through. Let's take a closer look;
I then added a few enamel dots in yelow to compliment the paint colours on the tag.
Why not give this challenge a go yourself for a chance to win one of Scrapping Fun's November kits! It's not one to be missed! Please be sure to check out the Kraft Plus challenge here and all of the gorgeous kits available from Scrapping Fun Kits here. Thanks for joining me....
