Tracey- April- Feeling Fancy

Hey Crafters! I'm back again with another layout from our lovely April kit. This is my last blog post for the month so enjoy!

I needed to get this page done quickly so I kept things pretty simple.  I started off by trimming my white cardstock down (I can't remember measurements sorry) I then used my Fiskars Advantege punch with the flower cartridge to punch a cute little border on the sides.  I  then mounted the white on to a lilac cardstock by KaiserCraft.

Now, if you read my posts regularly, you know that I just about ALWAYS include a form of mixed media.  this time around, I used the Tim Holtz Wilted Violet mist to create a little of interest around my photo which I will add shortly.

I chose to mount my 4x4 photo on a scrap purple and black polka dot paper and a little slither of one of our beautiful kit papers.  I felt as if I would need a rather large embellishment cluster seeing as I didn't have a pattered paper background and I didn't have very many layers behind my photo, so I added the great doily that we received in the kit. I added a few strips of the wash we all received and then pulled out my embellishments and started to have a play around with how I wanted things to work out. I wanted to make things appear to be more 'random' looking so, I desperately tried to make the purple twine from the kit look as if it just fell onto the page... but, it doesn't look like that so we will just live with it (Lol).  I decided that I wanted to add a few flowers.  I found that I only had white flowers, so, I used two mists to colour them. All I had to do was spray the mist over the flower and make sure that it was fully covered and then dry before I added it to the layout. I used pink enamel dots in the centre to add a bit of contrast with all the purple.

At this stage, I was thinking that my cluster was looking a little bare still so I added one of my favourite embellishments from the kit, the Purple Heart paperclip. I then added some of the kits sequins and beads along with a white and gold butterfly from my stash.

I hope you enjoyed the layout and I can't wait to see what you create with our May kit- which I LOVED!

Raelene - April Kit - Hello You Are Loved

Hello Scrapping Fun Fans.
Raelene with you Today and I have a 8x8 layout for my daughter's pregnancy album.  I am so close to finishing this project and since Purple is such a big feature of the album this kit was perfect for it.
While working on this layout I was trying to be mindful that I needed to do my Easter layout with the kit as I have no Easter scrapping supplies and this would suit that so I was trying not to use too much of the kit.

The You Are Loved Epoxy Flair helped form the title of this page along with the Purple Shimmer Hello Diecut.

Once I made a decision on which photo I was going to use and played with my supplies for a bit to get a sense of what I wanted to do I put down some strips of the washi that was in the kit to get a base for my layout started.
After some more playing around with the papers and doily I added the 4x6 paper and the floral doily from the kit to the layout.
I didn't want to lose too much of  the beautiful texture in the paper so I positioned it so it would show off the paper without detracting from the rest of the layout.
I then started creating my Title cluster and finished off with 2 butterflies in the top corner to balance things out.

I have a fair bit left of this kit and I am looking forward to using the scraps on other pages.

Lisa - April Kit - Fun Times Loved

Hello everyone, welcome to my 2nd layout using Scrapping Fun's April Embellishment Kit.

The ribbons and washi in this kit are absolutely gorgeous and I didn't use many in my first layout so I wanted to really showcase them here,

I started by using them as my background by cutting them roughly in different lengths and using a glue adhesive to attach them. It did crinkle a little when it dried. I flattened it by putting them page under some weight for a while, but I actually like the texture it adds to the page. You could use double sided tape which may stop the crinkling.

I wanted to put this embellishment cluster in the top corner of the photo. I planned it out on the doily without any adhesive before adding it to the page. I find it gives time to sit and think about things before gluing it down permanently. I don't plan this well always but the embellishments included in the kit are so precious I didn't want to ruin it.

You can see I changed it  little as I put it all together on the page.

The kit crocheted flowers seems to blend so well with the kit gardenia, I felt I had to cluster them together.

Buttons are one of my favourite embellishments. The circle cut out under the kit buttons was cut from card that I had covered in the kit washi and mounted onto white cardstock.

To compliment the subtle green in the kit doily I have added the Mulberry Paper leaves and a small green flag tag from my own stash.
This is one of my favourite photos of my children with my parents. They are all so naturally happy and having fun

I used some more of the kit buttons down the right side of the photo to balance the large embellishment cluster,

The chipboard is from my stash and I have coloured it because I thinks its natural colour goes so well with the purple. Bringing a bit of interest to it by adding a bow of kit gold trimmed ribbon which I did not use in the background.

Finishing off with small journaling to mark the date & place, I used the card I had covered in kit washi tape to cut a small tab. I attached it to the kit heart shaped paperclip and stuck it to the layout with adhesive.

At the end I matted the whole layout onto purple cardstock because I though it needed something to define a border. I probably should have done it at the beginning but I didn't think of it.

I hope you enjoy the final result. See you next month.

Morgyn ~ April Kit ~ Hello Card

Hi Scrappers,

Morgyn here with this lovely little card I made using the April kit, I love how this project came out as i had no plan of what I wanted it to look like when I started.
I will be using this card for my Mother-in-Laws birthday this month.

I cut down a card base to a 6x6 inch square. Then started on making a shaker pocket to put some sequins in.  I made a little frame then added a layer of clear packaging on top followed by a border of patterned paper. After gluing down 3 sides I added the sequins and adhered the 4th side.

Before Sticking down my shaker frame I glued lace to the middle of the card to build my embellishment cluster on.  Starting with the frame, then adding in the crochet and paper flower.

I added in the metal butterfly charm and the little metal flower to the cluster.  I attached down the hello die cut to finish off the card.  Hope you enjoyed this little project.

I have a process video showing how I made this, if you would like to check it out you can find it here.

Tracey- April Kit- Fabulous Memory

Hey everybody! I'm back at it again with the April kit! How is everybody going with it? have you made much or are you hoarding the gorgeous supplies?

I started this page with white cardstock. I then followed on with my favourite technique- the packaging technique.  For this page I used the Tim Holtz Distress Stain in the colour Wiltled Violet and possibly Wisteria by Kaisercraft (I can't quite remember).

I then took another of the beautiful kit papers and used my Martha Stewart Arbour loop edge punch on one side and stuck that to my page.  I trimmed my photo down to a 4x4 and mounted it to some scrap cream and black patterned paper and then a plain black cardstock and stuck it down.

I then wanted to use some of the delicate vintage lace and some of the purple and gold ribbon from the kit. I threaded the thin ribbon through the centres of the lace and stuck a longer piece to the bottom left corner and a smaller piece to the top right corner, as per usual.

With this months kit, we all received some handmade flairs.  I used the 'Fun Times' flair in a small cluster up on the top righthand corner. I felt like this was helping to ground the ribbon and the lace that was there.

I then used my dice cut machine with the KaiserCraft dies 'fabulous' and 'memory', I just used a plain black cardstock to do this. I felt like the black was too plain with such a busy background, so, I took my gold KindyGlitz and smeared that over the black and allowed it to dry so that I could stick it down.

To finish off my page, I took an assortment of sequins, beads, buttons and the metal flowers from the kit and created a diagonal line from bottom left to top right. I also added the hand knitted purple flower from the kit as well as the silver butterfly.

Thanks for reading, don't forget to share your creations with us on the Scrapping Fun Inspiration Group on Facebook.

Lisa - April Kit - Adored

Hello and welcome to my first April Kit Layout. The April Kit is so full of purpleness that I am able to make two layouts.

Honestly, I find it hard to use purple and I hear this is common in the scrappy world. However this black & white photo of my teenage daughter seemed to go so well.

With a Kaisercraft white cardstock as the background, I started by splattering some Violet water colours on the cardstock. I used Mont Marte Watercolours and mixed it with a few drops of water just to get a consistency I could splatter. I don't have a heat gun so drying time becomes planning time but really water colours don't take very long to dry anyway. You can always blot it with some paper towels if you prefer.

I have used the papers in the kit with a black ink distress to form a geometric pattern behind the photo. I have also used the pink heart washi tape to border a piece of cardstock to add a little contrast.

The Chipboard butterflies in the kit are just gorgeous. I sometimes colour wood veneer chipboard  but I thought the natural colour went really well with this design, along with the "adored" word that I used as the title.

This embellishment cluster in the bottom left corner with a well placed ink splatter was made exclusively with items from the April Kit including butterflies, metal rose, heart paperclip, flat flair (no epoxy) and a circle covered with washi tape.

To make the washi tape circle, I covered a square piece of cardstock with rows of washi tape and then hand cut some circles out of it. I have also used these in my 2nd April kit Layout.

To complete the layout I have adhered the Kit included "Hello" to the photo itself and my favourite embellishment, buttons to the edge.

With a few more butterflies & metal roses in the top right and a hand drawn border with Black Artline Pen this layout is complete. I think the monochromatic purple colours really compliment the mood of the photo.

Hoppy Easter YouTube Hop - Raelene - April Kit - Easter at the Call Centre

Scrapping Fun Kits is proudly sponsoring the Hoppy Easter YouTube Hop and I (Raelene) am happily participating in another Hop with these lovely ladies.

The prize for this Hop's Prize Draw is a April Kit, so if you missed out on subscribing to April make sure you enter, or if you have already got a April Kit why not enter anyway and have a chance to win a second kit.

To enter watch each video in the Hop and leave a commenton each video.

Here is the Hop order, start anywhere you like.

Raelene from Dyspraxic Organised Scrapper
Deb Egan
Rachel from the Closet Scrapbooker
Morgyn from For the love of paper

So now for my layout.
The only plan I had was to use my Scrapping Fun Kits April Kit and these photos of the Easter Bunny visiting those working on Easter Sunday last year at hubby's work.  When I looked at the Bunny and saw the Yellow and Pink in her outfit I decided to add some pink and yellow to the layout.
The floral doily has some little pink flowers so this was a great piece to use in this layout as it pulled the purple of the April kit and the pink I was adding into one element and helped pull it all together.

I was so indecisive about my background paper and how I wanted to start that in the end I just put 2 pieces of washi down and started.  If you are having a creative block or are finding it hard to decide how you want to start a layout putting something down and committing to it can help get the process going.  Well it works for me.
Then it was just a matter of building from the washi.

I will do my journaling and possibly add a doodle around the outside later, I don't want to reveal any Bunny secrets to a little one who might look over Mum's shoulder.

I am looking forward to seeing what everyone creates with their kits.
Will  any of you be using your kits to scrap Easter?

Morgyn ~ April Kit ~ In My Cup

Hi Scrappers,

Morgyn here with a little project I am working on this year.  I will be using my monthly Scrapping Fun kits to create a mini layout in my Travellers Notebook.  This project will be using photos I took in February from Photo A Day project I did. Here is the first page using the stunning April kit.

The first prompt was 'in my cup...' and for me that is usually a cup of tea.  I have one every morning - usually made by my sweetheart husband.

I used the purple doily as my background piece then layered some of the pattern paper behind my photo to make a little base.

Next I went through and added in the title.  I used some Project Life letter stickers and coloured them purple (to match the kit) using my chameleon alcohol markers.

Lastly I added in some embellishments - sequins, flair, wood butterfly and of course the pretty heart paper clip.  I really like how this little layout turned out - can't wait to get a few more of these Photo A Day pictures scrapped!

Please check out my process video for the project here.

Thank you
Morgyn

The full kit has sold out but I have created some smaller kits for $5 with doilies, wood veneer butterflies, crochet flowers, flair & papers. So if you would like a April kit you can subscribe this month for a $5 kit.

Tracey - April Kit - Hello Graduates

Hey everybody! Tracey here today. How are you all enjoying your new kits? I had HEAPS of fun playing around with this beautiful kit. I found it so easy and enjoyable to use because it's my favourite colour, purple.

When I first saw the kit I knew that I wanted to use photos from my year 12 graduation because my dress was purple.  I began with applying a texture paste through a stencil to black Kaisercraft cardstock. I felt like the texture paste was just hanging off the edge of the card stock so I decided that I would use the purple ribbon from the April kit so 'stop it from falling off'. With everything being so dark on the layout, I knew that I would need something to break up the dark hues of purple and black, so, I stuck a large piece of cream and black patterned paper as a base for my photo and embellishments.  I then stuck a strip of the lovely kit paper along the side along with a strip of one of the washi samples.

Now, one of my FAVOURITE embellishments in scrapbooking is a doily. Doilys are great because the can provide you with a base for a cluster, they are delicate enough to add a reasonable amount of interest to the page and they're stunning on every layout! We were lucky enough to receive a purple doily in the kit so I used that as a base for my photo, which I matted in some scrap purple polka dot paper and a dark plum cardstock. With my base created I started to look into what I wanted to include in my cluster. I went with the Raelene's hand made flower, an assortment of the sequins and beads as well as the purple heart paper clip.

At this stage of the layout I was feeling like the top right corner was looking a little bare, so I used some more purple doily and a hand knitted flower and stuck that in the corner.  I often enjoy having a small interest point in a corner because it helps the eye to move around the page.

I love mixing fonts and colours with my titles, so I used the purple 'Hello' die cut that was included in the kit with some black letter stickers from my stash and created the title 'Hello Graduates'.

With my layout almost done, there was only one thing left for me to do, splatter some ink. I used the Tim Holts Distress Stain in the colour 'Wilted Violet'.

Don't forget to share the pages that you have made using your kit on the Scrapping Fun Inspiration Group on Facebook, we can't wait to see what you have created.
