Raelene - DD2018 Kit - Documenting December Catching Up

This year for my DD I was returning to what worked best for me, combining my DD with my journal the way I did in 2016 but this time I had my photos printed at the shop instead of on my $30 dodgy home printer and that impacted my staying  on track as I struggled to get to the shop to print and I would get home, sit down to scrap and find I had missed a photo.
Today is January 6th and I just got my missing photo for December 1st and December 4th printed on Friday so I am hoping to sit down and finish my DD over the next couple of days.  I did however skip ahead and got a few days done so I wanted to share one of them with you Today.  I haven't used much of the DD 2018 kit as since I am combining it with my journal it is mostly using memorbilia until Christmas, when I get my Christmas Day memories in I will use the DD 2018 kit.

For December 8th to the 11th I had only one photo and a small amount of journaling so inspired by a spread Shay did that used frames and numbers for a list of days she had no memories she wanted to put in her DD I created pockets with some frame and added my journaling to tags.

The red and white striped frame and numbers are from the cut apart that is in the DD 2018 Kit.

I always like to include some of the wrapping paper I am using each year somewhere in my DD, so I used it as my background for this spread and it coordinated so well with the frame and numbers from the cut apart..
As my photo had purple in it I matted it on some purple and then pulled purple in by creating some tags with it and using the bottlebrush stickers from the November 2017 Kit onto to of the pockets to pull it all together.  For the twine for the tags I grabbed out the silver and white twine from the January 2018 Kit, it was perfect.
Other bits in my layout are some frames I got from Morgyn, a tag I got from Shay and some scrap Christmas Music paper I had in my stash.

I love how this spread turned out.

I will be back soon with more layouts for you.

How is your DD going?

Amy - DD 2018 Kit - Documenting December in a Travellers Notebook

Hey Scrapping Fun Fans,

Amy here sharing my 1st actual documenting December spread with you, using the stand alone DD 2018 Kit. I have put together the first 3 days here for you as they are only small pages, and I choose the travelers notebook format this year as I am not documenting a daily format and it will only be a short snippet of specific Christmas type things that will be followed up type thing in my regular scrapbook album.

For the 1st page I used the Ho, Ho, Ho tissue paper to line my paper and give it some colour and add a matte for my photos to sit on. This spread actual documents the arrival of our Elf Elvin so there is a few photos which I collaged in the Project Life app. The washi and number was already there from when I made the Notebook last month. I wrote the title on this page, and moved to the 2nd page.

The 2nd page I decided needed to look a little different, so using the side part of the paper Christmas bag that was in the kit, I cut it out and stuck it down. Now I was going to go red side facing up but thought that would be to much red, so went with the tan colour instead. I then stuck the photos either side of the this strip, added some little pops of red with the red jewels, star pin and twine for some added texture. I added my journaling for the day and that is day 1 complete.

Day 2- Is just a single page and I have used a strip of the green star paper from in the kit, plus a doily from my stash to create a bit of a layering for my photo. I added the green pom pom trim for some interest and a bright pop of colour and then the chipboard word for some texture- all from the the kit.
I added my journaling last and day 2 all wrapped up!

And then day 3 I wanted to make sure it looked a little different to the other 2 days.  I had some of the red tissue paper laying about and I really love it so had to use it again, but this time I pulled out the ribbons from the kit to use in the spread. I used the tissue paper and ribbon as the base to start this spread off, and laid my photo over the top.
I then felt that the top of the page looked empty, so went with the ribbon with the beads on it and placed my day title in between 2 of the beads. Still to much white space for me, so I have added 2 of the chipboard snowflakes and added some glossy accents over the top to give them some shine.
I have added only a little journaling, and some doodly stars and dots and all complete!!

Merry Christmas if I don't pop in before then.
Amy xx

Shay - December Daily - Crush

Well here we are just a few short days away from December at the time of writing this blog by the time you get to see it....It will be December which means December Daily!  As we gush over the latest collections, the beautiful embellishment kit from Scrapping Fun Kits, our excitement builds, hours on Pintrest pinning all the layouts, stalking the Ali Edwards Facebook group for DD Ideas....but ( isn't there always a but) there is something in the background nagging away at me. What is it? Why is it there? Why is this happening to me?

ANXEITY that is what  it is ...WHY is it happening to me, not sure no explanation really it is just one of my quirks I live with, except I know what is triggering it for me this time December Daily! Yes that is right, the pressure of putting out perfect pages, beautiful albums, making sure I have the time, do something each and every day was too much for me. I tried to find a way to deal with it, OK maybe do less pages, I don't do enough Christmas stuff for me to do a DD, I am going to let down people by not doing it...all these thoughts, all this anxiety over some paper and embellishments and glue. Why is it so stressful for some and not for others? For me I think it is time, I work casual and on call I have study and I a not a very Christmas-sy person, we have a few traditions and things we do but the lead up to Christmas is a very dull one for us normally!

After a heart to heart with Raelene I decided a December memories for me would be more suited, Our usual put up the tree on the 1st December wont' be happening this year as my son will be away, Christmas shopping is pretty much done except for a few odds and ends,  have a concert that is not anyway related to Christmas...not unless for some reason Jon Bon Jovi Singles me out of about 10,000 people and say's hi then all my Christmases have come at once ( a girl can dream) spending time with my best friend who I don't get to see as often as i like since she moved to Brisbane. The list goes on and very few Christmas things to put in a December Daily.

I guess I am posting this to let others know it is OK if you don't do a December Daily but make it yours for me December Memories is more easy for me, not an everyday thing, not all holiday cheer and cookie making ( I am so going to have a white Christmas one day!) It is ok if you don't do it everyday, no one is forcing you. It is so easy to get caught up in the scrapbooking world of perfect pages, with perfect photo's with the expectation of perfectionism in every layout and album you do. Guess what i am trying to say is do what is right for you this Christmas and do a DECEMBER MEMORIES ALBUM  if you so choose to. I know I will be.

I will post up my photo's and stuff as I go along, and attempt a video or two LOL, that is a work in progress.

Thank you for reading this I truly hope you and your family have a safe happy holiday season.

Amy- DD2018 Kit- Getting Ready

Hey Scrapping Fun Fans,

Amy here with my first post using the DD2018 Kit; this is what I am calling it as I won't be documenting daily throughout December as my life is not that exciting, but my December is with bithdays as we ll as Christmas fun.
This year in thinking about how I wanted to document December I thought about what I was going to document in and I have decided to make my own Travellers Notebook as I have so much extra Christmas stash left from last year that I can use to make the pages and I thought it would be a little different , so that is what this post is about.

I have used plain old A4 copy paper as the inserts folded in half and I haven't trimmed them down as it was not to uneven when I folded them all together.

Next up was stitiching the binding down the middle. I managed to find some gold embroidery thread in an old sewing box in my cupboard- SCORE!! So using an old Amy Tangerine sewing mat and piercing tool I randomly pierced some holes along the middle of the paper.
Next up was the stitiching, which I will admit I am not a semstress so I think it is a back stitch I have used here to run through the holes and then for extra reinforcement I added some washi at the end, which I know I will cover with paper or embellishments down the track.

Now came the fun of using the kit to create my cover page. I knew I would use 1 of the papers I just needed to decide which one. I went with the the green mistletoe as I liked the busy brightness of it. It wasn't quite the full A4 size so I used the thick washi tape in the kit to create a border at the top and bottom.
I then placed the paper on the top and all done. I then worked on the main embellishment cluster which i placed in the bottom left. I placed it there as I thought it will be more stable on that side of the paper then on the right where the book opens. I have used various embellishments from the kit , as well as the hat and flower which is from the October kit, the shrimp and word stickers are from last years kits.

I have created the title for using the gold alphas in the kit and added some red bling from the October kit and the front page is created.
I then started the 1st page to show you how it can be done , but will pop up more photos as I go through in December.

I hope this gets you thinking about ways you can document December.
See you soon
Amy.
