Lauren ~ Dino Kit ~ Excited Much ?!?!

Hey Everyone,

Another dinosaur loving crazy layout.

I got inspiration from the ledger paper in the kit that I used on the first layout, and cut out dinosaurs from coloured cardstock. I did this by printing a colouring in template to size I wanted and cut around it multiple times.

I glued these dinosaurs down the right side of 8.5x11 piece of cardstock.
















I then cut the photo of Oliver down to 4x4 and matted it with the patterned paper in the kit, this helped to tie in the colours.

I stuck it to the layout, adding the hessian lace to the top as a layer. I then used the vine rope as a embellishment on top of the photo as well. I added resin leaves in a cluster to top left of photo.


I got set working on the title, I used paint pen to write in black and then once it was dry I added small detail with white paint pen.














I added the stegosaurs patch, then the journalling in that trapped space between the dinosaur and title.

To the bottom of the title I added a small cluster with a dinosaur button and enamel dots.

I added enamel dots to the top of the stegosaurs and to the hessian lace.


I completed the layout by tying to charms to cream thread to add to the top cluster, oh and a doodley border.

Lauren - Dino Kit - It's a Dinosaur World, Embrace It.

Hey everyone,

I have a son who is dinosaur crazy so thought the Dino Kit was going be fun to use to document his love. 

I started with the ledger paper, backing it with a 6x8 cardstock so that I could fit it in a page protector.

I then cut out the photo of Oliver, so it was just outline of him. I stuck it to white cardstock and cut that again, giving him a white border so that it pops of the patterned paper that I was planning to stick it onto. I put it up on foam tape and positioned it onto the second patterned paper that I cut down to fit on the ledger page without covering the dinosaurs.



















I cut a piece of the ribbon with a fishtail banner and layered it under the photo, then added the title and embellishments from the kit to complete this simple but effective layout. I used two alpha stickers to build the large title. I love the leaf brads and resin pieces so was great addition to the title.

The two dinosaur buttons were a great 3D pop to add interest and direct your eye to the title and the little embellishments.

Finished the entire layout with a doodley border in black.

Lauren - Who Kit - Dr. Who Junk Journal

 Hello Everyone,

These papers in the Who Kit are so lovely and I knew I wanted to document when we went to the cinema to watch the new Season recently. Here is a link to the unboxing video that me and my 12 year old son did .... https://youtu.be/Xu-_JIVSRuA

So to do this I made a Junk Journal.

I used the printed exclusive paper made by Sarah that is free with kit purchase to be my cover (I had printed it on 250gsm paper).  I cut it in half and then folded it in half and wella there is the cover hehe.

Next I folded each of the patterned paper in the collection and nestled them in each other to make the pages. I did this so that each spread in the junk journal will have one half patterned paper and the other half blank page, this was so it didn't overwhelm the layout when it came to adding photos, memoriabilla and embellishments.

I then clipped it together with clips to hold the pages as they flattened to make the notebook.

I then got set embellishing the cover. I fussy cut the Tardis and glued it to the front page (bottom right) and used alphas from my stash to spell out Dr Who. I added a couple of wood veneer stars from the embellishment kit.

Lastly I used the language charm (not sure what language it is but it is something to do with the show - check out the link above for the unboxing where my son explains it better). I detached it from the necklace and attached it to the stitching on the spine. This must be done carefully so that the stitching doesn't break or stretch and therefore break the journal.

Lauren ~ October 2018 Kit ~ December Daily Pocket Page

Hey everyone,

Back again with another fun project to help finish my 2017 December daily album.

This time I want to make a pocket page, using the cards in the October 2018 kit.

I cut down the signpost card, added alpha stickers and red bling from the kit, slipped it into the pocket.

Above that in a pocket, I made a shaker pocket. Using the pom poms cut from the green ribbon trim, with red bling (that I joined together so the sticky sides were covered) and I used hole punch to make circles out of patterned paper in the kit.

I added green trim to the whole side of the pocket for pop of colour and awesome texture.











On the back I cut out the Santa with the puppy from a card and positioned it onto the text patterned paper that I cut down to the right size.

Lauren - October 2018 Kit - DIY Charms for December Daily album

Hello everyone,

The day after I unboxed my October 2018 kit, I was shopping in a fabric shop and found this lovely long tassel with bead at the top and new that would be great as a start to charm embellishment cluster for my 2017 December Daily Album that I need to complete.  I wanted to add some of the goodies from the kit to bulk out the charm cluster, not just have the tassel by itself.

I started with the price tag from the tassel, I added the lovely wide washi tape to both sides and one of the felt flowers as a 3D goodness. I had also purchased some gold bells and threaded them onto the tag. It already had its own string so that part was sorted.


Next I punched a hole in the felt Santa hat, threaded some red and white bakers twine in the kit through it. However the felt wasn't strong enough to have a hole and thread through it so I had to rethink that - and boy did that take me a little time to work out how to use the Santa hat as charm but in way that suited long term use.

While fiddling around I worked out that I could punch a circle out of the text paper and back it with white circle, place the Santa hat and thread on top by using wet glue. I then added two red bling and small alphas that spelt 2017. Added a dotted line border and was happy.

I was then holding up the three charms, the tag, the tassel and the Santa hat circle to see how they looked together and trying to make the green pom pom trim work. It was then that I wondered if I could include the homemade tulle flower and as they hung next to each other I decided that the Santa hat circle looked good backed by the tulle flower!  I made that happen and so delighted with how it looks.

So I then used red and white bakers twine in the kit to loop on the charms and then tied in a double knot as a loop. I then looped it through the rings in the 8x8 album that I using as 2017 December Daily album.

Lauren -September 2018 Kit - Sunshine

Hello Everyone,

When I unboxed the September 2018 kit I knew that was going bring some sunshine-y inspiration to my scrap desk and I wasn't wrong.

I have been trying every now and then to use blocks of patterned paper and position them on the layout in a manner that looks appealing to my eye, much like traditional older style scrapping. however I haven't been able to make it work to my style but the paper in this kit was the catalyst to finally conquering this style for me.

I grunged it up and made it more messy, as I think the flat paper to paper style wasn't my style and hence why I couldn't make it work. sometimes its the simple changes that impact the most :)


So I started with my distress tool and roughed up all the edges of the paper, even letting it rip at some places randomly.

I scrunched up the top layer before taping it all done. I only positioned the tape in the middle of the paper, firstly so that I could get the texture from height of paper rather than flat against the cardstock and secondly in case I wanted to tuck in anything.

I cut down the paper bag and used that as a layer as well, roughing and scrunching it up after I stuck it down (don't know why I didn't think to do it before, but it was obvious it needed it when stuck flat pristine piece of paper down on the other layers hahaha).


















On the cut apart sheet was this yellow frame piece that I also roughed and scrunched and used as the photo layer. Adding two strips of the yellow flower washi to top and bottom of the photo. The photo was small 2x3 in roughly - printed in card size from Selphy printer.

The cut apart came in handy when adding a label for journalling and two word strips to embellish the layout. I finished the embellishing off with some of the resin flowers and a button from the kit and enamel dots from my stash.
























I was thinking I may use a word strip as my title, but thought it needed something to outer edges of the patterned paper, I did audition the grey ribbon but it wasn't the right texture for this layout. Instead reaching into my stash for some larger yellow alpha stickers and placed them vertically on left side of the patterned paper cluster.

To totally complete the layout I used yellow ink pad to ink the edges and also rub some colour onto the stark white background. I also grabbed my lead pencil and bordered two opposite corners and added shadowing to the title.

Lauren - September 2018 Kit - Art Page

Hello everyone,

Welcome to another new month, this year is flying by isn't it?!

Anyways, when I saw the September Kit I was immediately drawn to making an art page full of flowers  with bees flying around. Like a garden.

So I set about creating art. I used art crayons from my stash and painted some flowers, I would like to think they are tulip and daisy shaped however I am happy that they look enough like flowers more than labeling then particular  species of plants haha.

I used the variety of 3D flowers  in the kit, tulle handmade one, resin daisy, lace grey one and the two crochet flowers to add depth and interest to the painted background flowers.

I painted the grass and the flowers stems with art crayons as well.

I finished the page off with some strategically randomly placed bees, adding their flight line with black pen and wrote a quote that I found on pinterest.




















Such a sweet artistic page ready to celebrate the beginning of spring in style.

Lauren - August Kit 2018 Kit - Lovely.

Hello Everyone,

I love the vintage girly vibe of the August 2018 kit and made some DIY embellishments and art page during livestream at the beginning of the month.

This meant that I had this awesome project life size embellishment that goes so well with this selfie.

I started with 9x12 cardstock that I used peach coloured spray and the packaging technique, I then sprayed directly over the top of that peach colour with a shimmer pink spray.

I then added some ink splatters in right top corner and left bottom corner.

Because I used the DIY embellishment next to the photo it was a large cluster that was already made and perfectly coordinated as a whole. Making DIY embellishments is a fun creative time but also so lovely when it comes to creating scrapbooking or project life page as a big chunk of the layout is done.

I added some ripped patterned paper to right side of the photo, this matched the embellishment, this was also teed up with some ripped umbrella washi and lace piece.

Under the photo I positioned red stripey ribbon and lace piece, one of those amazing fabric covered wood veneer tea cup and two paper daisys from the kit. 

I ripped the left edge of the layout and put some pinky red cardstock underneath, this was to frame or border the page rather than the normal patterned paper border or doodley border.

I reached into my stash for the thicker phrase title and then added some journalling.

Two hearts from the thickers pack onto the diy embellishment and the bottom right cluster.

Lauren - July 2018 Kit - Embellishing the Harry Potter Travelers Notebook

Hello everyone,

I am back with another layout in the Junk Journal inspired Travelers notebook that is documenting our Harry Potter love and the trip we took to Universal Studios in Japan.

I made the book/mini album during facebook live stream ...check it out here...


It was super fun to fill it up. I added Wizards Play collection to this Scrapping Fun Kit and went to town hehe

this page was simple, I added the pocket page size card as a tip in. Using washi tape to attach it to top of the left hand side, I placed a house emblem under the card and then journalled under neath across the whole left hand side. The right hand side was simply a patterned paper background and a photo. Sometimes you need to have a simple layout to tell a story.

The beauty of making the travelers notebook in a junk journal style means that I can add whatever I want to and whichever size I want. I used this book paper as a full page background, and even the plastic bag that the kit come in as a sequin pocket.

Also the parchment style patterned paper was placed in sideways as a smaller layout, and this was paired with the paper bag that became a pocket for some quote cards and a photo which was a nice inclusion to the travelers notebook.

Same thing happened with the brick patterned paper.

Lauren ~ July 2018 Kit ~ Butterbeer!!

Hey everyone, Lauren here.

I was super excited to get stuck into adding photo, memorabilia  and embellishments to the Junk Journal style Travelers Notebook I made on the Facebook live stream.

Here is a couple a pages to start of the sharing of the project.

I loved the Butterbeer in the cut apart that came in the July 2018 Harry Potter inspired kit and knew it would  go very nicely with photos of my boys tasting the Butterbeer.

I loved the combo of brown paper bag on left and small peice of antique writing paper on the right. These were lovely bases for the photos and the embellishment cluster.

I cut the brick paper from the kit into a banner and teamed it up with washi before adding the butterbeer mug from the kit as well  as second on from Colorplay collection.

On the right I kept it simple using label punch to cut out white cardstock, I layered green paper behind it and adding a little journalling. I then stamped best friends around the background.

I didn't want to miss out on opportunity  to use the amazing wood veneer and new this starry night patterned paper was perfect background

Teamed up with a strip.of washi and wella perfection.

Lauren - July 2018 Kit - Unboxing and Junk Journal LIVE

Hey Everyone and welcome to July,

Can you really believe that we are halfway through this year - super crazy how fast it has gone!!

Anyways this month really inspired me, and even before I opened my kit I knew I wanted to make a mini album that will record our trip to Universal Studios in Japan - well the Wizarding World portion of the theme park :)

I thought for a while about what type of mini album I would use or make, and remembered that I also had the wizard world paper and ephemera (made by Colorplay) and knew that I could make a travelers notebook.

As I was trying to find my wizard world paper in my stash I came across other things that would be nice to include, like paper bag, vellum etc and had the idea to make my TN like a junk journal. So the size of a normal TN insert but with variety of items and sizes used as pages within the TN.

So to extend the excitement of the release of the kit, I decided to do a Facebook Live stream. This included unboxing the kit (so all of you could see the goodies but also so I knew what else I was working with haha) and then I got stuck into make the junk journal inspired Travelers notebook whilst chatting to the group.

Was a fun way to slow down and explain my process, my thoughts and opinions about products and how to use them, as well as using thoughts and opinions from those who joined me in the live stream.

Along with the Scrapping Fun Kits July 2018 Kit and Wizard World from ColorPlay paper and ephemera, I also added gold glittery tulle, HP book paper (from a damaged book), lined paper, white cardstock, paper bag, the plastic bag that the kit was packed in, vellum, two pieces of patterned paper from stash (brick and black pages), some die cuts I created with free cut files from Paper Issues and I believe that was all of it :)

Here are some of the photos of the junk journal inspired travelers notebook, I did start embellishing on some pages and even added the sequin pocket during the live stream. However I will be adding photos and memorabilia from our visit to Wizarding World section of Japan Universal Studios to complete the TN. So look out for that, as I will share the process and flip through over on my channel later in the month.

Lauren ~~ June 2018 Kit ~~ Fantastic

Hey Everyone,

This embellishment kit just speaks to me and this layout was born.

I used inspiration from the ribbons and washi to make stripes behind the photo and down the layout.

I started by painting two stripes, one in each colour - peach and mint.

Then while it dried a little I got stuck on building the paper layers behind the photo with the patterned paper I had left. I changed each layer up and even made two of the layers as banners at the bottom.

I then knew I had to adhere the photo with its patterned paper layers to the cardstock before I embellished the stripes further. So I used foam tape (as I have run out of fun foam - for some reason I continually forget to buy more at the shops) to adhere it to the painted stripes. I added some peach and mint coloured thread behind the photo as well.

I then knew it needed a ribbon layer under the bottom of the photo layers, which I made into a banner, before adding other stripes.

I used ribbons and washi to make it the way I thought it looked good design wise.

I then started two embellishment clusters, I knew I needed one below the photo to the left - this was to tie in the stripe layers below the photo. The second one I wasn't as certain at the beginning but thought needed to be on the right perhaps near the photo (and that is where it did indeed end up).

I used a flair from the kit (as well as a flair from DT bonus) and used the paper, resin and fabric flowers to build the clusters. I then dug into my stash for some extra resin flowers and thickers.  The thickers had some awesomely perfectly coloured hearts that finished the clusters.

Lauren - June 2018 Kit - Memories

Hey everyone,

I am loving  the softness of June embellishment kits!!!

I have been inspired  by many around on social media that have made similiar design layouts. 

Each  patterned paper (including the vellum) went together superbly so knew had to use them all together. I cut a triangle from each piece  and positioned in a windmill style on the layout.

It looked a little bare, like it needed more triangles but i didn't  want to clutter the layout  too much so instead  I reached for the amazing  washi in the kit. I did yank a peach thin washi from my stash to even it out.

I then grabbed my sewing machine and outlined the paper with stitching.

It was time to add the photo, title and embellishment cluster to complete the layout.

I used a black and white photo that  had white border so that it didn't  clash with the sweetness of the colour scheme of the kit.

I lifted it  up with foam tape, positioning it in the middle so that it covered the joins of paper and washi (sneaky hehe).

I knew that word veneer was made for this layout so it was first part of the cluster  to make it to the layout. 

Next was  the circle paperclip, flair and paper flower. I played around with some of the other amazing  embellishment pieces before settling on a few of the resin flowers.
