Shay - September 2018 - So Simple

Hi Everyone!

Today I am back with a quick and simple layout using the September 2018 Kit, that came together so quick, it seemed like it only took minutes not the 15mins that it actually took me.

Love the texture of the cut edge.

I loved the bag that was included in Septembers kit and wanted to make the most of it while showing the lovely design on the grey background. I cut the bag open along one side seam opening it up to make it bigger.  I then cut an "L" shape from two sides to back the photo in the paper and save it for another layout ( paper hoarding anyone?)  I did the same with the Yellow flower paper to cover the back of the photo and make it really pop from the black paper.

I removed the center of the yellow frame in the cut outs, and put in the saying that came with the cut apart.  I felt the saying was great for this photo as my grandson was over having his photo taken and turned away from the camera. It was still a good day and some excellent photo's taken.  The heart and the enamel dots on this layout were from my stash.

September's kit included a beautiful tulle and metal flower.  I deconstructed this to use the metal flower centre inside the grey chiffon flower highlighting the metal flower a bit more, and adding a touch of elegance to the page, I absolutely adore this flower and keep touching it.  (Does that make me weird?)
This flower just screams touch me, with it's soft fluffy texture!
I used the yellow straw in the kit to make "stem" for the flower ( but really it was to hide a mistake but shhhh!) but think it added a bit of fun to the page and more texture something I really struggle with normally.

So everyone I need your'e help here I don't have a title for this page....Would love to hear your ideas for a title.

I love a simple layout..Do you ?
Thank you for your interest in my layout, happy scrapping everyone!

Amy- September 2018 Kit- 12x12 layout

Hey Scrapping Fun Peeps,

Amy here with a new project to share with you using the very fun and bright September 2018 kits.
I felt like using a little paint on this one, so using some Dylusions paint and a Flutterby designs stencil I created my background on the white cardstock. I choose this word stencil as this photo is of me and my little girl pulling silly faces and not really caring who sees us.
Then I thought I would use the paper bag from the kit to use an additional photo matte layer , but also a way to pop in my journalling. I have also matted my photo on another piece of the yellow patterned paper from the kit that contrasted well with the photo and the grey colour of the bag.
Using another piece of patterned paper from the kit I jotted down my journalling and popped it into the bag. I then thought it needed something to make it stand out and say 'hey I am hiding here pull me out', so I have added a piece of the lace frill to the top edge of the journalling paper to make it visible that it is tucked away in the bag.

Next up I needed my title, using some thickers I created the title in the opposite corner to the photo just to provide a little balance to the page. I have then used several embellishments from the kit this month to embellish around the title and really make it bright and pop!

And finally I added some fun little pieces along the side of the layout using some of the cute little wood pieces from in the kit- a bees, flower button and also some wood veneer from stash.

I loved how bright, fun and crazy this layout turned out especially for documenting this photo.

I hope you are having lots of crafting fun with your September kit. I will have a video for this layout up on my channel soon so keep an eye out for it.

Until next time
Amy xx

Lauren -September 2018 Kit - Sunshine

Hello Everyone,

When I unboxed the September 2018 kit I knew that was going bring some sunshine-y inspiration to my scrap desk and I wasn't wrong.

I have been trying every now and then to use blocks of patterned paper and position them on the layout in a manner that looks appealing to my eye, much like traditional older style scrapping. however I haven't been able to make it work to my style but the paper in this kit was the catalyst to finally conquering this style for me.

I grunged it up and made it more messy, as I think the flat paper to paper style wasn't my style and hence why I couldn't make it work. sometimes its the simple changes that impact the most :)

So I started with my distress tool and roughed up all the edges of the paper, even letting it rip at some places randomly.

I scrunched up the top layer before taping it all done. I only positioned the tape in the middle of the paper, firstly so that I could get the texture from height of paper rather than flat against the cardstock and secondly in case I wanted to tuck in anything.

I cut down the paper bag and used that as a layer as well, roughing and scrunching it up after I stuck it down (don't know why I didn't think to do it before, but it was obvious it needed it when stuck flat pristine piece of paper down on the other layers hahaha).

On the cut apart sheet was this yellow frame piece that I also roughed and scrunched and used as the photo layer. Adding two strips of the yellow flower washi to top and bottom of the photo. The photo was small 2x3 in roughly - printed in card size from Selphy printer.

The cut apart came in handy when adding a label for journalling and two word strips to embellish the layout. I finished the embellishing off with some of the resin flowers and a button from the kit and enamel dots from my stash.

I was thinking I may use a word strip as my title, but thought it needed something to outer edges of the patterned paper, I did audition the grey ribbon but it wasn't the right texture for this layout. Instead reaching into my stash for some larger yellow alpha stickers and placed them vertically on left side of the patterned paper cluster.

To totally complete the layout I used yellow ink pad to ink the edges and also rub some colour onto the stark white background. I also grabbed my lead pencil and bordered two opposite corners and added shadowing to the title.

If you would like to check out the process video for this process click here to be taken to my channel and this video.

thanks for stopping by,
Lauren

Shay - September 2018 Kit - Sunshine and Family

Hello Everyone,

I must say when I got my September 2018 kit in the mail my mind started racing and it didn't stop till I had created. I knew already I had the perfect pictures to showcase the stunning yellows in the kit!

My mind raced with all the possibilities in this kit! I loved the yellow and wanted to make sure it complimented the photo's I chose but stood out for the happy colour it is. So Family photo's were needed.

I indulged in some Stampin Up! supplies this season from their new catalog and brought some embossing powders..they have an amazing range of colours but my favorite was Pineapple Punch from their In Colour 2018-2020 Stampin' Embossing powders (set of 5), and guess what it went perfect with this kit!

love how the yellow pops against the black -Stampin up! stamps used.

I used Bazzil Licorice card stock and embossed in pineapple punch the dandelions onto the bottom of the page, they really pop against the black background. A bright and fun addition to the page.  I matted the photo with black and yellow card stock ( from stash) this helped the photo, stand out from the black background.

The photo placement was important for me as the yellow made such an impact i didn't want to loose the focus of the photo so I put it in the middle of the page away from the yellow embossing leaving blank space to highlight both. I used the grey ribbon to highlight the photo even more adding the word original from the cut apart and then the resin sunflowers, This gives the eye a chance to come up to the photo and scan across it.

I added some do it yourself thicker (poolside) and painted them yellow with Dylusions paint in lemon zest. for the title.
The yellow frames the photo.

I had a lot of fun with this kit and love the results from using the items in it. I hope you have enjoyed this layout and create you own magic with September's Kit.

Thank you for looking at my work.

Jaymilee - September 2018 Kit - Little Sun

Hello everyone, Jaymilee here. I’m up on the blog today sharing a really quick and easy 8x8 layout I created with the September 2018 Kit

Firstly I started out with the idea of using the cute little paper bag included in the kit as a matting piece for my photo as well as a place for a giant tag. I matted my photo with one of the papers from the kit and ripped the bottom off to give a little more texture. Next I used the paper bag from the kit and matted that making sure that I left the open end of the bag clear. I made a really simple tag using one of the papers from the kit as well as a white reinforcers from my stash. I used some grey twine from my stash and used that to make a pull for the tag.

Next I decided to use some grey paint from my stash and some bubble wrap that was just on my desk. Yes you did read that right bubble wrap. Bubble wrap is an amazing way to add texture really easily to a layout. I painted over the bubble wrap with the grey paint and just stamped that onto the paper.

I used double sided tape to stick down the photo to the background. Then I decided to use some black and gold alphas from my stash to create the title for this layout. I thought that this title goes really well with the theme of the kit which is very spring and sunflower inspired. Which fits perfectly as this little puppy is called sunny.  I used one of the labels from the cut-apart sheet and did a little journaling about the photo. If I had a lot more journaling I would have used the tag however for this layout I really wanted the tag as a design element rather than a practical element.

To finish off the layout I used two of the tiny words from the cut-apart sheet as well as one of the little wooden bees that was included in the kit. I thought these bees were just too cute to not include in the layout. Finally I added a gold heart from my stash as well as some gold mist splatters from a sparkly element and a border around the outside of the layout.

I really loved how this layout turned out. It was also really quick and only took me about 10 minutes to create. This is included the paint drying which is a really fast layout. Check out some of the other ladies and what they have created this month. That’s all from me using this kit.

Amy- September 2018 Kit - She is a wildflower

Hey Scrapping Fun Peeps,

September is here and isn't this months kit just perfect for the beginning of Spring? So beautiful and bright, I love it!
My first layout for this month is a cutie one documenting a cheeky and happy photo of my little niece from at the end of last year.
I started by adding the lace frill to the left side of the photo. I thought this added a pretty texture to the layout. The background paper is from the Maggie Holmes 'Shine' paper pad.

I then added some 1 inch strips of the patterned paper from this moths kits behind the photo , and a lace piece from the June 2018 Kit to add a different kind of photo matte.

I knew I wanted to use the big yellow flower so decided to use it make a cluster in the bottom right of the photo. Then using a strip of washi, a label from the cut apart sheet and 2 of the very cute little wood bees to complete the cluster. Very bright and very cute!

Finally I added my title using chipboard thickers from my stash. I backed it onto a piece from the cut apart sheet and added a wood button and the wood bees from the kit just to add some interest and thats it my layout is complete.
I will back again later in the month with another project using this gorgeous fun kit!!
Until then happy scrapping
Ames

Jaymilee - September 2018 Kit - Sweet as Sunshine

Hello everybody, Jaymilee here, I’m up on the blog today sharing my first project using the September 2018 kit. I have to start off by saying I was in love with this kit. I love yellow as a colour to scrap with and grey is a beautiful natural colour which accents yellow beautifully. I’m sharing today an 8.5 x 11 layout of my dog Leo. I started out with this layout by lining up all the trims and washi tape. I also cut open the straw included in the kit and put that with the washi and ribbon. I glued them using hot glue because it dries quickly and I think its easier to use then wet glue with this background technique. I cut sections of the grey ribbon so that I could use it multiple times.

Next I just matted my photo with black tissue paper and an old book page from my stash. Then I drew a little border around the outside of the whole layout using a black felt tip ben. I love using borders on layouts as I feel it ties the whole layout together and focuses your eyes onto the layout as a whole.

I used a black pen from my stash to write the title of the layout as well as some gold thickers from my stash. I love how the kit this month included some tiny word cut-outs. I had to use them on this layout. I also used the little resin sunflower from the kit.  Just some wood veneer and stickers from my stash.

To finish it off I used some gold mist spray and just splattered them where the clusters and the title are. Finally I used a stamp from my stash and did a full ink stamp and a ghost stamp. I loved how this layout turned out.

Check out some of the lovely ladies on the design team and their projects using this months kit

Lauren - September 2018 Kit - Art Page

Hello everyone,

Welcome to another new month, this year is flying by isn't it?!

Anyways, when I saw the September Kit I was immediately drawn to making an art page full of flowers  with bees flying around. Like a garden.

So I set about creating art. I used art crayons from my stash and painted some flowers, I would like to think they are tulip and daisy shaped however I am happy that they look enough like flowers more than labeling then particular  species of plants haha.

I used the variety of 3D flowers  in the kit, tulle handmade one, resin daisy, lace grey one and the two crochet flowers to add depth and interest to the painted background flowers.

I painted the grass and the flowers stems with art crayons as well.

If you  would like to see the painting with art crayon process head to my channel. Here is the process video https://youtu.be/Yf-ddmqXhlo

I finished the page off with some strategically randomly placed bees, adding their flight line with black pen and wrote a quote that I found on pinterest.

Such a sweet artistic page ready to celebrate the beginning of spring in style.
