Raelene - Neon Kit Layout - Beautiful

Hi guys.
It is my turn on the blog today (Raelene).
I did this layout while in the tiny room that has air-conditioning, space was so limited that I was actually scrapping on top of my closed laptop, so lighting of the process photos is poor, my appologies.

When I started pulling this fun kit together it had me thinking of the 1980's and so I really wanted to record  some of my childhood memories with it.

Here is the photo I was planning on using and the gorgeous phrase from Dusty Attic with a base coat of Gesso.
I used a serviette to protect my surface while working on the chipboard.

Morgyn's use of Gelatos had me pulling mine out and playing with them.  They are low mess so were the perfect way to colour the chipboard while working on top of my laptop.
Due to the poor lighting I found it difficult to see if I had a good coating but I am happy with the results.

Once I had my chipboard coloured and I was playing with the supplies I felt the words were better suited to my only post surgery photo from my facial reconstruction so I changed photos and this meant the papers I included in the kit didn't suit the photo so I had to pull out this gorgeous 6x6 paper pad from Dear Lizzy

I picked out a orange paper as the couch is orange, a fun paint splat paper and this white with black lines paper to soften to help reduce how busy the layout was going to be.

I really struggled with this layout as working with this photo brought up emotions I  haven't felt in years.

Morgyn ~ Neon kit layout ~ Beautiful ....

Hi guys,

Morgyn here sharing my first layout using the exclusive neon kit (this was really fun to play with).

I decided to change it up a little and create a A4 layout for this one, I love to have a bit of variety in my albums so why not mix it up with some different size layouts!

Here is my completed layout

I mounted my photo on some white card-stock then added a piece of the paper from the kit to back that, along with a pink piece from my stash.

And a few close ups

I had this washi tape in my stash and found it worked perfectly with the colours in the kit so used this as a base for my chipboard title. I used a small heart punch and 1 of the butterflies to create a embellishment cluster off to the side.

I used my gelatos to colour the chipboard, after a layer of gesso I added the gelato colours with spritz of water and blended them together to give a bit of a rainbow effect across the word.

I then used some washi tape, another punched heart and a date label to create a small embellishment cluster in the top left corner.  Off camera I added my journaling and a few splatters of gold Colour shine to complete the layout.

Lisa - Be You, Neon Fun !!

12x12 Layout & Tag

Welcome to my first ever blog post and designer Layout for Scrapping Fun Kits.

When I got the Exclusive Neon Kit, I was so excited that I started this layout immediately. The embellishments were just beautiful and co-ordinated so well. I even did a Tag with the embellishments I didn't use in my layout, which you can see further down the page,

The only way you can get a Neon Kit is if you win the Prize Draw for the Summer Fun YouTube Hop.

First I had to decide on a background that would bring out the brightness of the NEON. I love bright layouts. So I chose black. I didn't have any patterned paper to compliment the papers in the kit so I decided to do a splash of paint behind the design. I used a paintbrush to apply the Mont Marte water colour and although not neon it was bright enough.

With so many great embellishments its was hard to choose which ones to use as I wanted to use them all. I generally start by choosing the position of my photo and then I place the main embellishments, title and papers. I don't usually glue them down at this point so I can move them around a bit. In saying that they never end up in the same position again but the general idea is there.

This was the main idea, I just had to fit the rest of them on somewhere.

I coloured the "beautiful" chipboard word with a pink Kaisercraft ink pad just dabbing it until I got the desired brightness.

Next I glued and taped the basics down. I wanted to use the butterflies so much to add some height but they just weren't working.

As I was playing with the cardboard hearts I slipped one into the paperclip hearts already on the page and they added a great effect to the page. I didn't even have to adhere them .

The little neon orange rose and puff sticker flower also found a place amongst this embellishment cluster.

I wanted something in the top left corner and played around with this for a while. I tried to use the butterflies again but sadly they didn't fit (don't worry they get used later).

The Glitter Alpha's, Brads & triangle puff sticker swapped places a few times but eventually found their spots

To finish I added the washi tape and the little puff sticker stars in the bottom corner with a little Journal tag to mark the Date & place of the photo. I am not big on journaling and as most of my layouts are from many years ago, I have forgotten what was happening at the time. I am lucky to remember the date hehe..

I love the result, I think the neon colours bring out the quite plain coloured photo and compliments my daughters beautiful bright smile.

Butterflies in Neon - Tag

After I completed the layout I still really wanted to use the butterflies. I hadn't used the black rose and had so many alpha's left, so after a night of sleep and deep thought I came up with this Tag Idea. With some Neon Cardstock, trimmed with some Pink Kaisercraft Ink, some neon green ribbon and a flower eyelet, this tag was my creation. I lifted the Butterfly wings with some foam tape. I plan to use this one day on another Neon Layout.

Morgyn - Santa's Cottage

Hi everyone,
Morgyn here with a layout using a Christmas kit created by the lovely Raelene.

When first opened up my kit I had my son with me, he loved every bit of the kit and came up with a layout design for me while we were unboxing.  I thought this was a rather cute idea and decided to go with it.  It is definitely not my usual style or type of layout to create, but I had fun and master 5 absolutely loved it when I was finished - I guess that's what really counts, right??

Here is a picture of the kit I was working with

This is my completed layout

I did a bit of 'paper piecing' with this layout.  I started with my background layers, I used a few pieces from an old Stampin' Up! Christmas collection.  I used the blue/snow paper for the top 'sky' layer.  Then used the tree paper to create a forest look.  Lastly I used some white cardstock to create a couple of snowy mountains.

Next I worked on the Santa Cottage, I hand drew the outline of the house, then added some snow to the roof.  Then I started with my embellishments, I used the gems from the kit on my roof (as per master 5 request).  I just a straw to make the bottom of the window and some pearls for the sides.  Twine made a great house and door outline, along with a green door handle.  I had so much fun using all the little elements to create the Santa cottage.

After all the base layers were done, I added some stamping over the page to give the look of snow - I achieved this effect with white embossing powder and a circle stamp.  Then I added my photo along with a few more accent pieces - flower, snow heaps and some white glitter to the mountain tops gave a great effect.

If you would like to see my process video for this layout you can find it here.

Thank you
