Katie - Gaming Kit - Birthday Layout

Hi There! Katie back again to share my last project using the fun January Gaming Kit. For this layout I decided to play around with the die-cut "Level Up" which I decided to use for a birthday page for my son.

I did some mixed media on my background and have a few step by steps for you too so you can see how it all came together, so let's get started!

Firstly here is the kit:

Now, let us look at the start of my background:

I started with a stencil, some distress oxide ink and a stencil brush. I am loving using the stencil brushes as you get a bit more control this way. I didn't have an exact plan in mind with my page design, so I started by randomly adding some pattern in a few places.

After adding some pattern I decided to add some stamping. I am loving this set, especially for boy pages, with so many circle designs in multiple sizes! I added some different styles of circles in a couple of colours.

And hey presto a background is born. The finishing touch was some light splatters using some watered down distress oxide in black soot and a small round brush. Now to actually put the page together!

I have used some of the patterned paper from the kit to create some background layers as well as stamping some labels and cutting these out. The doily was a great addition and played on the circles already seen in the stamping. Again I used the stickers like die cuts, but otherwise this was a relatively quick and simple page!

Thanks for stopping by,

Katie x
