Star Wars 12x12 Scrapbooking Layout

I had a lot of fun with this months' kit - as I am a self confessed Star Wars nerd. I used a photo from Christmas 2015 of my daughter trying on the Clone Wars helmet. My son wanted all Star Wars toys that year, and apart from the lightsaber this was the most popular toy.

The colour theme in this kit was different from my usual colour palette but it was perfect for a Star Wars theme. I don't often get messy with modge lodge, but this was so much fun - it really was a great scrapping fun kit :)

Amy- August Kit- Art Journal page

Hey Scrapping Fun Peeps,

Amy here with an art journal page using our galactic August kit. I initially was not sure how I was going to use the kit, as I couldn't put my hands on a Star Wars themed picture, but I was feeling arty and decided I would just create an art journal entry.

I started with a circle stencil and some texture paste. I put the stencilled image on both sides as I was not sure what exactly I wanted to do. And circles because it made me think of planets and space.

Next I added my paint, which I added water to in order to get it moving around the pages a bit more. I mixed up the colours to match in with the colours on the napkin. I wanted to have most of the page covered, so I kept adding blobs of paint with water to get a whole coverage.

Using matte gel medium I adhered my napkin to the page (I only took 1 square of the napkin). I added the straw for some additional colour and dimension.

So I was left to embellish a little. Using supplies from the kit, I added the storm trooper ribbon to both the top left and bottom right of the page; this to me gave the spread some definition - that's where the page ends.
I built embellishment clusters around these. I added the mummy cast to the bottom right and then added some yellow enamel spots on the page for small pops of colour.

I went for a title, as such with this spread (not something I am usually to fussed about in an art journal page), by using the small red alphas we got in the kit.' Light or Dark, which side.

And that was it this spread, A mixed media, galaxy fun spread. Check out more projects in the blog using this months kit.

Tania August Kit - Star Wars

Today I am playing with a kit kindly sponsored by Scrapping Fun Kits.  Another great pop culture themed one.  

I am still getting used to using my kids ipads to take photo's as my camera has decided to die on me.  

I have used the grey mottled patterned paper from the kit, die cut it in the bottom right corner with one of Tim Holtz's distress dies. 

 Added this to a black card front.  Then I added the planet post it to the top left corner (love this item.  Who knew it existed!!).  I used my Stampin Up Stitched dies to cut out the image from a paper napkin from the kit and mounted that on the next size up die black card.

  

I add the "Star Wars "confetti pieces to the underside to only show one line of the word both top and bottom.  Added the little circle pic on the right bottom and just a very simple Happy Birthday to finish it off.  

And great card for the avid fan.  Thank you for taking the time to look at my project. 

Julie - August Kit - Julie Layout

Good morning to you all.

Today's layout is the second layout I have created using the August 2019 kit.

This photo was taken on a ship when we were on a cruise in 2014. It is one of my favourite photos of me. I am like most people and do not think I take a good photo generally but this one seems OK to me. I chose it because of the amount of red that is in the photo.

I have used what was left of my kit after creating this layout and a few items from my stash.

I have made a 1" frame with the black cardstock and trimmed the blue down to 11.5" square and attached that on top of the black frame.

Using a Crafters Workshop stencil called Mini Circus Banners and some Mont Marte Modelling Paste I added some banners across the top left hand corner of the page and across the page about 1/3rd of the way up from the bottom.

I have used SpellBinders Nested Lacy Pennants, Die-Namics Mix and Match Banners and an unbranded die to cut an assortment of banners using both papers from the kit and my stash.

I also cut a pink and a yellow SpellBinders Label 8 die. This will hold some of the journalling.

I used the same pink and yellow paper to cut a couple of strips, I punched one of the long edges of the pink to add some interest. These will be layered on top of each other and used to create a horizontal element through the layout.

Before I attached the elements to the page I watered down some acrylic paint in pink, yellow, black and white and created a light covering of splatters to the blue cardstock.

Using glue I attached all of the elements to the page. The photo was mounted on some craft foam before being attached.

I used Couture Creations CO724161 flower die and the velum from the kit to create the flower in the cluster on the left hand side of the photo. I actually made two of these flowers so I have a spare to use in another project.

The rest of the cluster was made up with a red paper rose and a black flair, also from the kit.

Using my Uniball White Gel pen I added faux stitching to the pennants and the edge of the blue cardstock

The title was cut using Kaisercraft's DD700 Alphabet Upper Case dies and some of the red cardstock from the kit. I inked the edges of the letters and attached them to the layout below the photo.

I originally hand wrote the date on the label to the left of the photo but I did not like it so I cut another label and used my computer to print the date on it.

Karen - August 2019 Kit - Star Wars

This little layout is actually a card I made for a friend who loves Star Wars as much as me and this kit was perfect for this project. 

I used a dark blue card from my stash to mimic the effect of night time/galaxy and added one of the planet stickers in the top left hand corner.

I wanted to make the paper clay encased man the main focus of this, so was sure to use multi-matte medium to set it in place.

Of course I wanted to use the Star Wars logo, and really use this kit in the most obvious, literal way.

I wanted to use a quote from the movie, and this one was perfect. Using the quote he's all yours, while added the encased man, was the perfect tribute to this card.

I used my label maker to type out the quote - I didn't want to risk using alpha's that may fall off. It was also good to overlay over a piece of vellum that also came with the kit.

To finish off the galaxy effect,  I used the Washi tape from the kit across the top and bottom of the card to frame it.

I really love the simplicity of this card. It came together so easy with the well co-ordinated kit.

The layout that I am sharing with you today uses the new August kit.

The background paper for this layout is from Kaisercraft's On the Dot range. It has been trimmed to 11.5" x 11.5" and matted on a piece of black cardstock that I have cut the middle out of.

I chose a piece of red paper and the black and white floral paper from my stash, tore one long edge of each and layered the floral on top of the red so that the floral had a red definition along the top and the bottom.

The photo is matted on a red and a black paper from the kit and white cardstock giving it a triple mat. I wish I had of  cut the centres out of the mats so I could of had more of this great paper to play with but I did not think of it at the time.

I used a Crafters Workshop stencil called Mini Peacock Feathers and some Mont Marte Modelling paste to add the feathers to the bottom central area of the background. I have chosen feathers as the main embellishments on this page to go with the feathers in the mask I am wearing.

The photo was taken at my niece's engagement party in 2011. The theme was Masquerade.

While I was waiting for the Modelling Paste to dry I found a few of pieces of chipboard in my stash and painted them with 2 coats of acrylic paint. I have had the chipboard for some time and no longer have the packaging.  The black square cluster, red bracket and white scalloped piece are all chipboard.

The transparencies are from Kaisercraft's Check In Acetate Shapes pack. (Very old)
The white flower and the feathers are from my stash and I cannot remember what brand they are either.

All of the embellish have been attached to the layout using double sided tape or wet glue for the bulkier items.

The title uses stickers from the kit. They match the papers and embellishments from the kit so well. I had trouble deciding where to put the title but finally decided to place it in the bottom right of the layout. I have underlined the title with a black fine tip pen, to help it stand out a little more.

My final step was to splatter some black acrylic paint here and there.

Julie - July kit - Start Your Day card

Good morning

Today I am sharing my second project using the July kit.

The photo below shows the card when it is open. Each front section is a Z fold.

This view shows the card with the left hand side closed and the right hand side open.

The card base is cut from white cardstock. It measures 10.5" x 5.25". I have scored it at 1 3/8" and 2 3/4" then flipped it and and scored at the same measurements on the other end.

Make a mountain fold first and then a valley fold. Repeat this for the other side of the card.

I cut a piece of patterned paper from the kit to 5" x 4.75", inked the edges and attached it to the middle section of the card.

Using Cheery Lyn "Chrysanthemum Strip" die, Couture Creations CO724161 flower die and a no brand flower die and the paper from the kit I cut enough flower layers to create 6 flowers.

Each of the flower layers was inked on the edges and rolled around my poke tool to give them some dimension. Using glue I layered the flowers on top of each other, staggering the petals. Crystal gems are attached to the centre of 4 of the flowers.

I used my Cottage Cuts Leafy Foliage die to cut some leaves, inked the edges and attached them amongst the flowers.

The flowers on the front of the card blended into the patterned paper the centre of the card too much for my liking so I cut a piece of white cardstock 5" x 2.75". I ink the edge of this and then attach it to the centre of the card. When the card is closed the flowers on the front of the card stand out much better.

The greeting is a Kaisercraft clear sticker from the "Inspirational" pack which I have cut into sections so it shows between the flowers when the card is closed. It is a generic greeting so I can use this card for any occasion. My hand written message will be written on the white panel beneath this greeting.

Julie - July Frozen Inspired Kit - Angkor Wat.

Good morning to all our Scrapping Fun friends

Today I am sharing a layout I created using the July Frozen inspired kit. You can buy the kit here.

The July kit is inspired by the Frozen video etc having blues, purples, silver and white papers and elements. I have done an unboxing video for this kit. You can see what is in the kit here.

When I started this layout I did not really have a plan for it and I do change my mind about the layout as I progress.

I have used a 12" x 12" sheet of blue print and a 12" x 12" purple paper from my stash for the background. I do not know the brand of these as they were in a paper pack and I have thrown the packaging away.

I trimmed the purple paper down to 11.5" square and then cut the middle out of it leaving a 1" frame. My original plan was to have a 10.5" square sheet of white cardstock on top of this but I changed my mind and went with using the frame as it is.

I have used 2 blue and 1 purple paper from the kit to create the layers behind my photo. I also used a piece of the purple that I cut the frame out of.

For a little bit of interest I cut a fishtail from both ends of the purple paper from the kit.

I have backed my photo with purple tissue paper and torn the bottom edge of it

Using my sewing machine I stitched around all of the papers with black thread. I have also inked the edges of all of the patterned papers with black ink

I cut the doily from the kit in half and attached that to the background then layered the patterned papers onto the page using double sided tape.

There is a blue tag in the kit, I have stamped all over it with a Artee Stamps Simple Flower Trio stamp and some black ink and then run it through my BigShot with a Kaisercraft embossing folder. I then replaced the twine in the tag with some of the feathers wool that is in the kit and attached it to the layout, extending out from the right hand edge of the photo.

I added three decorative pins from my stash and a flower and flair from the kit.

There is some very pretty washi tape in the kit so I added a row of that to the bottom of the photo and attached two flowers and another flair from the kit to the bottom left of the photo.

For the title I have used American Crafts Remarks - Playtime alpha stickers. I wrote the date of the photo by hand.

I had planned on finishing the page here but it looked incomplete so I found the butterfly and star in my stash. I had made these some time ago and had not used them. They are heat embossed stamped images on glossy rainbow paper and they work beautifully with the colours on the layout. I cut the star in half and added that to the bottom left cluster and the butterfly was added to the cluster to the right of the photo.

That completed the layout.

Amy - July Frozen Inspired Kit - #best friends

Hey Scrapping Peeps,

Amy here with my 2nd project created with this month's kit and for this one I went with a mixed media background using the packaging technique and some Kaisercraft spray inks.

I then added paper layers behind my photo using several of the patterned papers from the kit and to add a pop of bright colour and texture I thought I would add some of the frilly coloured ribbon at the bottom of the photo which was just perfect to give the photo an extra lift off the background.

I then continued to add some more of the other ribbon we have in the kit, under the photo to create a kind of layer up to the photo; guiding the eye almost. I added in a thin piece of ribbon just for visual interest. 

I then thought I would play around with some embellishing on either edge of the photo- the top left and bottom right. For this I wanted to use the cut out snow flake as well as the large blue sticker snow flake. Both I cut apart to make them spread more evenly across the places I wanted to put them in. 

I then added some of the little embellishments from in the kit, a flower, flair and bow just to add some extra pretties to the layout. I also added some of the sparkly washi in small strips in the bottom left and top right of the page.

My title are foam thickers from my stash and this completed my layout! 

I love the sparkling, prettiness of this months kit; just perfect for all kinds of memory magic.

Amy - July Frozen Inspired Kit - 'Let it Go, Let it Go'

Hey Scrapping Kit Peeps,

Amy here with a magical project our July kit. I have used a pretty snow flake cut file from the Silhouette store and backed it onto several layers of the patterned paper as well as the beautiful acetate that came in this months kit.

I also placed one of the doilies from the kit off to the right just to add a little texture and softness to the page. I thought this was also a great spot to add the journaling tag and a little cluster using a flair from the kit and I cut up the snow flake cut out from the kit to place around the page as little embellishments..

For some really added texture on this layout and something a little different I thought I would use the lace ribbon and tule in the kit to create a kind of textured cluster in the bottom left of the page. To finish this cluster off I then added some of the gorgeous sparkly washi and the purple flower.

To balance out the bulk of the right side I thought I would add a little embellishing to the right, so I cut a little more of the flakes from the snow flake cut file and added one to the top and one to the middle of the left hand side of the photo. I liked how this added some subtle softness to this side of the page too.

Finally I added the title using some foam thickers from my stash and added some splashes of gold Kaisercraft mist and my layout is completed.
