Katie - Dr Who Kit -

Hello! I was so excited when Raelene invited me to play with the awesome Dr Who kit! I have been a Dr Who kid since I was about 6 and now my 17 year old daughter is very much a Whovian too! When they brought back Dr Who it was a family affair to all sit and watch together, and it mostly still is even though a couple of the kids are either not living at home or not as interested any more.

Here is a reminder of the fantastic goodies in the kit:

No automatic alt text available.

For the page that I created I decided I also wanted to create a galaxy style background using my distress oxide inks. I mean it seemed an appropriate place for Dr Who after all! Then I got to it and picked some pieces from the kit that worked with the background and my photos and a page was born!

The main photo on this page was one that my daughter and I had taken at Supernova this year with Peter Capaldi and Pearl Mackie, the most recent Dr Who and his companion! We were so very excited one of the most exciting fan girl moments ever!!

I am really pleased with how the background turned out! If you are interested, the colour inks that I used were: Picked Raspberry, Faded Jeans, Black Soot, Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber, Seedless Preserves and Salty Ocean. I then used some water splatters to lift some of the ink for a star effect.

To create more vibrant stars I grabbed some liquitex ink in white and copper and added some droplets, some of the white ones I made into more cross like shapes for the sparkle effect.

I didn't need to do too much more with how bright the background was, I grabbed the die-cut Tardis (added the details!) and also cut out the two smaller Tardises (how do you make Tardis a plural??? 😂). I added these on my page around the photos and one of them like it is moving through space.

I grabbed some of the Tardis blue trim and thread it through the sonic screwdriver and added this to my page, as well as all of the wood veneer stars. I also created a mat behind the bottom photo using the British themed washi tape, this helps to ground the photos.

And lastly I used a circle punch to cut somewhere to add my journaling and backed that with some of the Tardis paper using a slightly bigger circle punch.

And there you have it, a Dr Who themed page about the day my daughter and I met the Doctor!!!

Thanks for dropping by to check out my page!

Jaymilee - 8x8 Layout - Sharing is Caring

Hi everyone,
I’m up on the blog today sharing a really quick and simple 8x8 layout of my family’s dogs.

I started by cutting down a 12x12 kraft cardstock down to 8x8. This kit was filled with green items and I have always struggled to make green layouts. I knew I wanted to do a little bit of mixed media in the background because I thought it would make working with green a little easier. I stared by putting some gesso on the right hand side. I used a sponge and dab it onto the page. Next I used a stencil from my stash that looks a little but like leaves. I just used some green paint and used the same sponge to dab on a tiny amount of green on top of the gesso.

Next I used the lined paper from the November kit and matted my photo. I also used a book page and a green sheet of paper from my stash to also matt the photo. I used some double sided tape to stick all the paper layers together. I then used some wet glue to stick the photo onto the layout. I always use wet glue when sticking anything onto mixed media.

While I was creating the mixed media background, I decided to use the title sharing is caring because they are both sharing a stick in the photo. I used an alcohol marker from my stash and a black felt tip pen to write the title. Writing your own title is a great way to get a unique title when you don’t have any alpha stickers that will go with your layout.

I used the washi tape from the kit and I covered a heart that I just cut from a scrap piece of paper. This is a great way to make coordinating embellishments if you don’t have any matching embellishments in your stash that go with a layout you are making I used some foam tape and wet glue to stick down the heart. I used the leaf brads from the kit and pushed them though the page in the top right hand corner and next to the heart I made. Next I used some twine from my stash and tied the two dinosaur charms on the twine. I really like how the charms still swing because the twine is glued down not the charms. Finally I used some green tiny word stickers form my stash and did some black splatters around the page.

That’s all from me today. Check out what the other ladies have created using this kit.
Thanks everyone,
Jaymi.

Raelene - Dr Who Kit - TARDIS Banner for our Dr Who celebrations

I am loving doing themed days with the kids, it is a great way to get E doing fine motor skill and sensory stuff.  I am making a couple of decorations myself and Today's post is one of those projects.

I really wanted a banner to hang for the significant Who days, aka season premiere, anniversary/my granddaughter's Birthday and the Christmas special/Boxing Day and this kit was perfect for making a banner.

I bought some burlap banners in bulk a while ago and used 6 pieces to make this banner.

I used my Silhouette Curio to diecut the letters to spell TARDIS from some royal blue cardstock and I grabbed out all the trims from my stash that might work with this.

Here is a video of my process of creating this banner.
Note: I was still working on the kit so I added the trim from the kit after finishing the video, check the photos below for the results.

I used Helmar's Premium Craft Glue for this project as it would give the hold needed for a item that will be hanging in my lounge room.

I used the Handles cut file and a scrap of silver mylar to create my Cyberman heads.  I then smudged a mix of gesso and grey ink onto them to make them look more beaten up like Handles was.
Check out how I used this awesome Mylar for a chrome look on my Happy Days Diner scrapping.

I love how it looks.

Such a fun bit of Timey Whimey stuff for our Doctor Who celebrations.
If you would love one of these awesome kits head to the Subscription Tab at Scrapping Fun Kits and fill in the form.

Shay - DD 2018 Kit - The December Daily Decision Part 1

Hello everyone!

Well December is nearly upon us and I am still wondering where did 2018 go!

I must say the decision to do DD was not one I was going for willingly, I resisted, I debated, I cried...I doubted my ability to do it.....but here I am.  Enna from My Scrapbook Room and Raelene (the lovely owner here) challenge me to take part in the DD and Raelene decided putting me on the Design team would be a fun element to it! So here I am 2018 DD novice and Design team member for the Fabulous Scrapping Fun kits. This is my journey!

About 2 months ago back in early late September Early October was chatting to Raelene about the DD kits she was releasing and all the exciting stuff that was in there, she couldn't convince me to take part but loved the kit anyway!  Fast forward a few hours later and a question over on My Scrapbook Room on who was doing it saw me saying no not doing it never done one, too hard, all the reasons as to why the biggest being we are not into Christmas here much! So Between being challenged by Raelene and Enna I am here.

I was excited at first because it meant I got to shop spend hours on Pinterest and pin layouts and designs and ideas....and I mean hours of Pinterest which normally ended  up me somewhere where I shouldn't of been instead of in pinning stuff for DD. Fast forward 10 scrapbooking sites later stalking the DD queen (Ali Edwards) to see what she had in her kits, should I buy one yes no, in the cart walked off come back emptied cart, back again in cart and out of cart.  This was the case with a lot of the site I just couldn't decide this was a huge undertaking and the fear of getting it wrong was clouding what i wanted to buy. Being an indecisive scrapper didn't help! (that is another post for another day) It also didn't sit well with me that I had other stuff happening in December that was defiantly not Christmas related and how was I going to put that in my album when it wasn't Christmas related!

IN the meantime Raelene had sent me the Scrapping Fun kits  DD embellishment kit

Which gave me an idea of what was in the kit and what other colours I could use with them.  After a long painful search (keep in mind I totally forgot I already had a shop full of Christmas stuff that i forgot to check and see what i already had 😒)  I settled on My Mind Eye Joyus collection....ohh guess who remembered she had stuff already for Christmas after she purchased the collection and it had arrived yep me....and guess what?  I ALREADY HAD SOME OF THE JOYUS COLLECTION IN THERE!!  😔 Oh well will have spares just in case.

This brought me forward to the day I had to sit down and make some decisions on what I was going to put in my kit...Yep the struggle was real people, Did I still want to use the Joyus collection?, what about the two paper pads and the two 5 packs of washi I had brought from Spotlight as well, Ohh! die cuts from three different companies none matching my papers or kits..... Come back to the basics that is what I had to do.  I walked away from it all for a few days to clear my head and come back to it.

PHOTOGRAPHS - I am a huge shutterbug and love taking photo's especially at Christmas time. In my search for DD ideas I came across some lists for taking photo's for December Daily, though most of them were based in America and where it snowed I took some from about 12 different list and threw in a few of my own. A good starting point. Here is the list I came up with.

Raelene - White with 1 November Challenge - ET Awareness

When I saw the colour prompt for this month it was really special to me as I have been planning to do a fundraiser inspired by my Mum's journey with a rare blood cancer next year and had just started to select items for that kit.  The colour for Essential Thrombocythlamia is Orange so the kit will have some lovely orange bits.

This was a difficult layout for me to do mentally as I was working on it in October which is always a tough month for me as her anniversary and her birthday both fall in October but I think it was a important step in my journey of grief.

I wanted to make a TN sized layout to add into my October Daily as a tip in for the date of her anniversary, so I cut some watercolour paper to size as my base.

I pulled out my orange bits from the fundraising kit and from my October 2017 kit.  As well as my Distress Oxide in Carved Pumpkin and just started playing.

Here is a process video showing how it came together.  The next day I decided to change it a little so check out the below pic for the finished result.

In addition to the paper bag I added a label and flower from the October 2017 Kit cut apart and added a number 9 sticker to form a sort of date cluster for my October Daily.

I greatly appreciate all the support I had with my fundraiser in May.  Due to the support of my subscribers and fans I was able to make a good sized donation and with your continued support hope to do so again next year.  I will announce which charity it will be as soon as I have the donation approval letter from them, so make sure to check our social media regularly so you don't miss out on this announcement as Facebook doesn't always show you posts from pages you follow.

Amy- October 2018 Kit - ' Our Little Elf'

Hello Scrapping Fun Friends,

We are nearly at the end of October, can you believe it? The year has certainly rushed by it feels and I am beginning to see the signs of Christmas 2018 around the place. So today I am bringing you a Christmas inspired layout from last year; a very cheeky photo of my niece wearing a Santa hat in the November 2017.

I have used a cut file from the Silhouette store and 2 of the papers from the October 2018 kit to back part of the file, the green paper is from my stash. I have also used some of the papers to also create layers behind my photo, I made this a mix of the bright and colourful and flatter papers to give the photo some lift of the white card stock background.

I have then used the beautiful Christmas embellishments from the kit to spread some Christmas cheer and fun around my layout, starting with the large tulle silver flower, then adding the smaller green flowers and then adding some of the gorgeous red blings.

From my stash I pulled in some little journal pieces to add a few extra touches to complete this layout.
I have a bonus to this post today and have a process video to share as wiel over on my channel so be sure to click on the link below and check it out.

See you next month

Lauren ~ October 2018 Kit ~ December Daily Pocket Page

Hey everyone,

Back again with another fun project to help finish my 2017 December daily album.

This time I want to make a pocket page, using the cards in the October 2018 kit.

I cut down the signpost card, added alpha stickers and red bling from the kit, slipped it into the pocket.

Above that in a pocket, I made a shaker pocket. Using the pom poms cut from the green ribbon trim, with red bling (that I joined together so the sticky sides were covered) and I used hole punch to make circles out of patterned paper in the kit.

I added green trim to the whole side of the pocket for pop of colour and awesome texture.

On the back I cut out the Santa with the puppy from a card and positioned it onto the text patterned paper that I cut down to the right size.
